About this Cook
I have recently embraced cooking and enjoy making things that taste amazing! I am the one who brings the best dishes to pot lucks and I am very proud of this. My mother was always a very good cook and baker and alot of my recipes are of course from her that I now modify myself and recipes I get from others. I havnt made it to the level of cooking where I can substitite ingredients though...but I am sure I will get there. I love to eat things that taste great!!
My favorite things to cook
I like cooking anyhting that is delicuos! I love desserts and appetizers though, and anything made with berries!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Not many traditions, other than Christmas and Thanksgiving turkeys at my mothers
My cooking triumphs
Anything that turns out and my family enjoys.
My cooking tragedies
for soem reason, I can cook and bake most anything, but I am yet to make a half decent cookie. They always turn out like hocky pucks!!! I seem to lack the ablilty to be able to tell when the dough "feels right".

Grandma's Butterscotch Pie
Tasted great. Made it for mother in law for her birthday (her fav). Never had it before, or even had seen one, but made it no problem. The only issue I had was I dont have an 'offical double boiler' I just use a pot of boiling waer with a glass pyrex bowl on top (have used this method for dozens of other double boiler instructions and had no problems). We after stirring forever, I couldnt get it to thicken even before I added my egg. I took it off the double boiler and poured it all in a pot and put it right on the burner. It thickened almost instantly, almost too quick had I not been right there. It turned out perfect. I just couldnt see it even getting hot enough the thicken with the double bolier. TASTED GREAT! Moter in laws eyes bugged out of her head she was so excited!

Fudgy Brownies I
these were super yummy! I suposse they are not as sweet as one would think due to the 2 cups of sugar, but, I had no marg/butter on hand and this recipe came up so it was easy to do. I had to bake for the full 40 minutes and even then the toothpick didnt come out 'clean', but, it made them more fudgy...the way I like them...and the crust, well theres nothing better than a brownie crust!!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins
this was tasty, but not quite 5 stars. I omit the nuts as my family isnt nut fans, and I added cinnamin and a caramel sprinkle to the tops. Glad I did as they gave it a nice flavor. Would make again as they were quick and easy and I always have all the ingredients in my house, but they were not spectacular. I only baked them for 18 minutes...and my oven doesnt seem to run hot or other recipes I dont usually need to adjust time.
