Hoagie Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
Excellent! Quick, easy, tastes great. Since others were saying it is so greasy causing the bottom layer of dough to get soggy, I microwaved the meats on paper towels on medium power for just a couple of minutes which got a lot of the grease to come out, soaked it all up with paper towels before preparing the hoagie bake, came out great and less fat!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2005
I thought this would be more like the chicken and dumplings at Cracker Barrel restaraunts, the flour and water type. I tore the biscuits small thinking it was going to come out great. I don't know why I didn't realize it before, I guess because we never eat stew dumplings because my husband doesn't care for them. This should be called chicken STEW with dumplings, it was tasty so I still gave it 3 stars, but we scooped out all the biscuits and threw them away and ate it like stew in a bowl. Also, if you do like stew dumplings, the kind you make with Bisquick or Jiffy mix come out much better than this, not soggy inside like these, plus they turned brown inside and out, not good.

Fantastic Mexican Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2005
Awesome dip! Recipe says medium bowl, you will need a 13x9 baking dish, I used one a bit smaller because it said medium and I ran out of room. It tastes great!! The third time I made this I halfed the ground beef to 1 lb, it's good either way, but with 1 lb, you definitely taste the cream cheese/sour cream mixture more. Better at room temperature. Next time I might prepare the cream cheese mixture ahead and spread it into the dish, cover with foil and store in fridge overnight before putting everything else on it because the mixture is much more flavorful the next day.

Watermelon Fruit Bowl

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2005
This made a LOT of fruit and tasted GREAT! The syrup really gives it a good sweet flavor, not too sweet, just right! We had leftovers and ate it for the next few days, it was still as good as day 1. Also easy to prepare if you don't mind cutting fruit. 3 of us got it done in no time! I wish I could have this often but it makes so much I'll probably only make it for large get-togethers.

Spinach and Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2005
This recipe is way too thick and cheesy like some have said, I wish I had used a lot less of the jack cheese, eliminated the parmesan altogether, maybe add a little heavy cream or half and half to thin it out. I blotted the spinach with paper towels like someone else recommended to get all the water out, maybe NOT doing that would've made it thinner and better. I doubled this recipe and threw it all in the trash, and it wasn't cheap! Nothing at all like I've had in restaraunts, the frozen kind at the grocery store is way better! Nobody liked it, but I think it could be ok with a LOT of changes. Also I added minced garlic for flavor which is definitely necessary.

Bacon Chicken I

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2005
I precook my bacon so it is crispy and just top chicken with it, pour soup over, then milk and bake. So easy and can make with different soups for totally different flavors. So far I have used celery soup, mushroom, potato, and nacho cheese. Didn't care for it with the nacho cheese soup though. Season chicken first with pepper, garlic, poultry seasoning, whatever you like. I'd check the soup first to see if it's salty before adding any salt! Don't forget the bacon is pretty salty too. This is the first recipe I ever made from this site back in June, 2005 and my husband LOVES it, second to Burrito Pie.

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2005
These were good, I cut them too thick and didn't realize how thin they should've been, they were still great, you'll need some kind of dipping sauce to go with these, my husband loved them and they were even great the next day heated in the microwave!

Honey Mustard Dressing II

Ok but nothing sensational, good if you don't feel like going to the store to buy a bottle. I prefer Ken's over this.

General Tsao's Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2005
Great recipe! The chicken is really good even without the sauce, its crispy and tasty from the soy sauce in the coating, the sauce is just like in restaurants, Be careful how much peppers you add, mine was way too hot and I love spicy food, but not the kind that burns your lips while you eat! Also I bought white wine vinegar just to make this and I think regular vinegar or even red wine vinegar would do, has the same smell and taste and it's a small amt. I used half the cornstarch in the sauce like others, it was perfect!
