About this Cook
I am a half Japanese woman living in Houston Texas. I love to create, be it cooking, sewing, soapmaking, woodworking etc. I HAVE to create, it's in my blood..
My favorite things to cook
Japanese food is among my favourite, I love chinese, italian, and middle eastern cuisine. Of all things, I love to bake the best, Around Christmas, I'll fatten you up. :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
sitting the kids on the kitchen counter while I cook, they taste test foods or nibble on chopped veggies while we talk or sing. Or waking up at 4:00 a.m. to pop the turkey in the oven on Thanksgiving morning
My cooking triumphs
My silky chocolate pudding cake, my husband put it before his intense love for cheesecake.. I beat cheesecake? Yippy! My Cream puffs are said t be the best! I make them extra big and fill them with custard until they are bursting! My hubby Loves my butterscotch cream, I like the vanilla, but the kids like my almond custard. My Butter Chocolate brownies, mmm 8.5 oz of goood chocolate and a big stick of butter...hey ANY recipe that starts with "A stick of butter" is goood!
My cooking tragedies
The first eggs I ever made for my husband, (this was before we were even engaged) ohh Lord, I put Fajita seasoning on them instead of pepper, honestly, those should have sent him running! yuck..

Cucumber and Avocado Sushi
This is Maki, not sushi. Sushi is fish on rice, Maki is a roll. :)

Sushi Roll
Cute idea but I thought I would note, this is not Sushi, This is Maki, Sushi is fish (raw or not) on rice, Maki is the name of the nori wrapped roll. We have been making Maki in my (half Japanese) family for years and for all the interesting ways you can cusomise it, why pay $12 for it? Thank you! this is a great inexpensive way to enjoy something wonderful and (depending on what you fill it with) healthy!

Cheese Souffles
You need a few bowls for this but MAN is it worth it! I used Butter baby Swiss I got from FIGI's and ohhhhhh it's perfect! Just remember to carefully temper your egg yolks before adding to the hot mixture and it's an easy success. Everyone loved it. I am going to do it again, this time, half cheddar, half Swiss. or perhaps Butterkase MMM! Thanks for an easy and great recipe. I have enver made a souffle' before and this gives me confidence to try more! Thank you!!!
