Italian Style Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
These were very good but the recipe proportions are way off. I only had 4 pork chops instead of 6 so I used slightly less of everything and still threw away over half of all my unused ingredients. Definitely try them - very easy!

Pumpkin Cheesecake Squares

Sorry I can't rate this recipe very high. No one at the Thanksgiving potluck thought they were very good at all. I guess maybe I messed something up but not sure what. The bottom crust was rock hard and the filling was pasty. I have a pretty good reputation for bringing good desserts and this one was definitely a flop - sorry. Will not be making again....

Chocolate Earthquake Cake I

This is very good!!!!!! Got a lot of compliments at pot luck lunch on it. Might use more cream cheese next time to break the sweetness just a tad. Might even try without nuts and coconut (my son doesn't like either).

Pork Tenderloin with Mustard Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
this was good but I thought the marinade needed something - and the mustard sauce was a little hot - my kids couldn't eat it. The pork tenderloin was very tender. Next time I will add something to the marinade and do less mustard on the sauce.

Seasoned Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2009
These are excellent burgers only thing I did different was that I chopped half an onion and added it to the meat mixture. Very juicy for a turkey burger!

Chicken Tetrazzini IV

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
This is VERY good!! I did not have any sherry so I just used some red wine. After the chicken was cut up I seasoned with salt, pepper and some chicken seasoning that I had in my pantry. I also added a few dashes of Italian seasoning to the sauce before I added the chicken and pasta. I used half heavy cream and half 2% milk (not sure how many calories I saved but at least I tried). It went over very well - my 6 year old had 3 helpings. I definitely recommend this.

Chicken Breasts with Lime Sauce

This was very good but was a little freaked by frying something then pouring butter over it! It was good but not good for you. I think I will try the chicken broth idea next time.

Laurie's Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2009
This is a VERY good recipe. However, it could use some spice and I think next time I will season the inside of the bell peppers before I stuff them because when you took a bite it just needed something. This make a huge amount - a family of 4 can eat on this for a week!! Also I did not cook my peppers before hand and I am glad I did not I think they would have been to soft. And also I think I might decrease the cook time a bit. My husband really loved this - kids didn't really like the bell pepper but other than that they liked it.

Orange Salmon with Creole Seasoning

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2009
This is a good basic recipe as far as type of ingredients go. I sprinkled the salmon with the cajun seasoning and cooked on medium heat with olive oil and butter - kind of gave it a nice seared outside then after i flipped it once I drizzled just a bit of orange on each piece of salmon then after the salmon was done I made the orange juice into a glaze type - I poured the fresh squeezed orange juice (I used 2 oranges) into the pan threw a dash of cajun seasoning and I added a few drizzles of honey (to taste)and let it come to a boil then served the glaze with the salmon. My husband said it was wonderful - one of the best salmon recipes he had eaten. I did not use any measurements from this recipe I just did everything to taste or what I thought was "good enough" the amount of seasoning that I used gave the fish a really good bite not hot but a good bite. Very good and will make again.

Mom's Country Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2009
Only gave it 4 stars because it tastes too much like flour. But other than that consistancy turned out perfect. Had to add more salt, garlic salt, and a dash of nutmeg (dad always said the key to good gravy). So if anyone has a tip to get rid of the floury taste please share.

Mexican Chicken I

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
I thought this was good. I will add more beans next time as I only used one can. This has a very strong cumin flavor - might reduce slightly next time. I only used 1 tbsp. of chili powder as I was afraid I would make it to spicy for my kids. I also added cheese at the end. I would recommend this recipe.

Chicken Pot Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
This is a good "basic" recipe. I added salt and pepper (alot of each). I also used 2 cans of cream of chicken soup and we still thought it was a little dry so next time I might add a little milk or chicken broth. I also used a can each of green beans, carrots, and corn. No offense but i don't like using the can that has them all mixed together I think it is lacking. I also used the idea of another reviewer and used basil - that was a great idea. But this was my first chicken pot pie to ever make so I was very impressed.

Pork Chops with Delicious Gravy

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2007
This is a very good and very easy meal. It needs a little more flavor but other than that it is wonderful. I ended up doubling the gravy recipe but I also had very thick pork chops. I definately recommend this recipe and don't let the low rating discourage you.

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 22, 2007
I was quite disappointed in this recipe. I am from Texas and that's not taco soup. It needs alot more spice or umph if you will. The beer was a little funky so next time I will do half beer and half chicken stock. There are other recipes on this site for taco soup using beef that are alot better and they use a package of taco seasoning and a package of dry ranch dip mix which adds alot of flavor and makes the soup wonderful. So with all that said I will try this again but I will definately make some changes. It just needs alot more flavor!

This was excellent. When I make it again I'll have to add little more seasoning to the meat for flavor. And will put less sugar in the stuffing.

Bacon Wrapped Hamburgers

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2007
I thought these burgers were very good but I made a big mistake - i used a 90/10 hamburger meat and should have used a less lean meat. In my honest opinion i thought they could have used a little more taste - because without the bacon the taste was just ok. But I also didnt put the grated cheese in the burger we put it on top after the burger was cooked so that could have made a difference (I couldn't find my cheese grater). We will definitely try this recipe again but i will do it exactly as it says. Oh and one last thing i omitted was the egg there was no reason for it.

Teriyaki Onion Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
Sorry but this was not my favorite burger. The consistancy was to mushy. I doubled the recipe and i used 6 oz. can of the onions and maybe I shouldnt have used all of that can - I think that is what made the meat mushy. The consistancy was like a mushy meatloaf. The flavor was ok it still needed something though - something with a punch. On the other hand my husband liked them and said they were the most flavorful hamburger that we have ever made. So we had 2 totally different opinions. I am thinking grilled pineapple with this burger would be good.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2007
My husbands first word was "WOW". He actually went back for seconds (which he never does). My son loved it as well. will definatelly will make this again. I followed the recipe to a "T". I did have to cook it a bit longer (maybe I had a little more meat than it called for). Unbelievable recipe - you gotta try it. Next time i will shape into more than one loaf to cut down on cooking time.

This recipe was very good. My husband is very critical of all recipes and he really liked this one. He thought the sauce was excellent. This is also a fairly easy recipe. Will definitely make again.
