About this Cook
I've been trying to learn to cook over the last few years. I wish I had paid more attention to my mom in the kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, especially cakes and pies. I'm learning now how to make pie crust. I find baking a lot of fun and therapeutic.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom always made a wonderful jam cake and custard for Christmas. A very good memory.
My cooking triumphs
I recently baked a ham with a glaze that I concocted, and it was excellent.
My cooking tragedies
I made a butterscotch pie that was absolutely beautiful, could have been photographed for Southern Living. When we cut it, it was nothing but butterscotch milk. Oops!

Baker's Secret Pie Crust
I've never been very good with pie crusts, but this one is by far the very best. Like other reviewers, I was able to roll it out between plastic wrap. Therefore, it was very easy to work with. Thanks for the wonderful recipe. I will use it often.

Hot as Hell Hickory Beans
Excellent beans. They certainly do have pizzazz. Next time, though, I intend to cook them a few hours to get tender before I add the tomatoes, as we Southerners like our beans "mushy." Thanks for sharing this great recipe.

Steakhouse Wheat Bread for the Bread Machine
I made a 1-1/2 pound load by changing the servings to 12 and following the recipe. Excellent, robust bread that baked up perfectly. Thanks for sharing this great recipe!
