About this Cook
We were married in August 2007..and to celebrate, we dined at one of the best restaurants in Vancouver. We are basically two Chinese-Astrology Piggies who LOVE good eats and love learning how to make what we love... nothin' wrong wit'at eh?
My favorite things to cook
Basically, anything we like, we learn how to make so we don't have to always eat out. I try my best to use what is freshest and what is seasonal, so that we make the most of what is available throughout the year. I love all types of Asian food, and Andrew likes meat, meat and more meat...
My favorite family cooking traditions
Comfort food.. in all its' wonderful and tasty variations.
My cooking triumphs
Donna: Dumplings, dumplings, dumplings... labour intensive yet highly tasty.. Andrew: Deep-fried Chicken Cordon Bleu.. an experiment that surpassed even his expectations! I am also dabbling now in preserves and jellies..
My cooking tragedies
I can't bake yet... but Andrew did a Bouche De Noel this last xmas... highly delicious.

Crusty White Bread
This is a terrific and easy recipe. I made this recipe one evening, and let the loaves sit on racks in their pans overnite. The next morning I noticed that the loaf bottoms were a little soft and moist; so I put them on a pizza stone in the oven @ 400 for about 15 minutes to crisp up the crust. Otherwise, don't change a thing! Thanks for a fail-safe bread recipe!

Old Fashioned Coconut Cream Pie
This is a fabulous recipe. Like others have said, be sure and boil the custard until it becomes thick. Just watch the heat and continuously whisk. Very good and thanks

Easy Lemon-Blueberry Jam
This is a wonderful recipe. Worthy of the cookbooks. I was worried about the sugar in the gelatin, but it turned out fine. Loads of great reviews. A great use for all the squished berries you get when you buy the large flats. I will be giving this away for xmas presents! Thank you Joyce!
