About this Cook
When restaurant food (in general) just wasn't cutting it-I decided to teach myself how to cook. I try to eat healthy and crave variety. There's no food to be afraid of if cooked the right way.
My favorite things to cook
Anything salty. I love cooking with beans, olives, capers, salsas and peppers. Sometimes traveling gets me fixated on a particular cuisine. It's a challenge to try replicating the food at home.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We call them puddahas- better known as pierogies. I remember having contests with extended family to see who could eat the most in one sitting. My personal record: 11
My cooking triumphs
Soups and semi-gourmet "after" partying food.
My cooking tragedies
Meatballs. Before I had much experience, I tried to form the meat into balls after cooking. Needless to say-it won't work and my dinner guests were perplexed.

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta
Five stars for ease, taste, and time. Great flavor with little effort. Only changes were crushed tomatoes in thick puree and red onions because that's what I had on hand. Served over cheese ravioli with parmesean. Thanks!

Chipotle Peach Salsa with Cilantro
Spicy and delicious. Great alternative salsa- only change I make is to puree the end result. People seem to love it and can never guess that the subtle background flavor is ginger... **tried recently with 1 lg champagne mango instead of peaches-delicious.

Lap Salad
Great recipe. Make sure to season the chicken well (I cook in sesame oil)it has an influence on the overall taste. I also substitute rice vinegar and sesame oil for original ingredients in the recipe and use prepackaged cabbage mix for ease. Thanks!
