Crispy Oven-Roasted Rosemary Chicken with Sausage and Potatoes

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2009
Wonderful and a lot of fun to pour a glass of wine and cook. Smells great. Enough things to do to make you feel like you are cooking but little enough to not make you tired of cooking. And the end result was wonderful. I did add some minced garlic and onions when I browned the potatoes. Thanks OP!

We loved it just as posted. Mine did not come out mushy like some said. Can't say why...But thanks OP.

Slow-Cooked Country Ribs in Gravy

Decent. I don't buy ribs often because you can never get them "just right" unless you grill them but I got a great deal so tried this recipe. Mine turned out so soft (guess I crocked" 'em too long) it was like pulled pork but the sauce was good and overall, I'd say give it a shot.

This was fairly easy, but just OK to us. Maybe we should have spiced it up a bit more. All in all, satisfying but probably won't make again.

Green Chili Casserole

Very good as written. As I am wont to do, I substituted lots of cheddar for the cheese food but I can see it just as good the other way. Quick and appeals to many tastes.

I laughed when I saw this because it has been such a staple in my family for years, it's almost part of the basic food pyramid. But for those of you that this recipe is new for, you cannot go wrong. Always good with chips or on burritos and never disappoints.

Amish Yumazuti

Very good. It doesn't sound like it would but it has a different flavor from the same old same old casseroles we have been having around here as of late. The only change was I used processed cheese on top as we were out of good old cheddar, believe it or not. But it was very good nonetheless. Good on the fly as it was a late night at work too.

Bacon & Eggs Spaghetti

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2009
Surprisingly good. I think I had the same reservations everyone had. Mostly about the eggs being raw but they do cook before the cheese even melts as stated. Very good. Pretty quick for a weeknight evening. And a bonus being the ingredients are a strange mixture of what you just might have left in the fridge at the end of the month.

Plain Potato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2009
I was looking to see if they had this recipe as it is basically the way I have been making it for years. This is a great basic recipe and you cannot beat real boiled potatos for soup.(The flakes don't hold a candle). I add onions and bacon sauteed in butter but if you want to avoid the heart attack :-) you can skip it and just use different seasonings to spice it up. Thanks for posting!! Sometimes simple is better!

One-Pot Dinner

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Very nice take on the skillet noodle dinner theme. Yummy and the ease of it earns it the 5th star. Easy to scale up too as I have loads of teenage boys coming over for their "foody call" every evening. My only difference form the recipe was to skip the boullion cube and water and use canned beef broth instead.

Mexican Pinto Beans

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I had to give it 5 stars because this is how I have seen it done here in Texas my whole life and they taste like they should. Pinto Beans. We always added hot chow chow, or some sliced jalepenos, or what have you to our own bowls and salt and pepper as you want. Just reminds me of lazy Sundays. Oh, and make a big skillet of HomeSteaders corn bread found on the site.

Pretty good. Made as written. Served with a side of tots for a fun kind of meal. Everyone felt it was decent, not amazing but a decent fast evening night meal. If I could make any suggestions it would be more mayo, or maybe sweet pickles in lieu of dill.

Extremely simple to make, and a good mixture of flavors. As usual I went crazy with the cheese but otherwise good with the few simple ingredients as written. I like a very white fish so may make it with Alaskan Polluck. Thanks for posting.

Tasty and fairly easy. Also as easy on the budget as it says. Made as written. Adding other veggies would be good but be sure to adjust the liquid up a little for fresh veggies.

Hot Cocoa Mix in a Jar

Great stuff. Way better than the packet stuff and makes bunches. And very easy. I put it in a big empty coffee can and we drink it on cold mornings and evenings. Would make a very cool gift in cute jars as suggested. Who does not love a rich cup of hot cocoa?

I always hate rating lower than 4 stars but this recipe was just not that good at home. I am sure it is awesome around the campfire. It is really bland and somehow did not really rise above sloppy joe. Decent and probably really popular with kids.

Chicken Enchiladas V

I have been making a similar variation of this recipe for years and it is always a winner. The only difference is I never thought of the chile powder...duh! Really adds to it and I overdo the cheese like I do on everything. A budget friendly tip is to use rottiserie chicken, already nice and flavorful, but go pick these up around 2-3 pm and they have some marked down, usually to half their original cost and they are as good as their frecher brethren. Thanks for posting.

Fairly yummy, went over well with the teens. Quick and easy! Also I did use real cheddar cheese as the only change to the recipe. Recommended for a lazy or worn out after work evening meal.
