Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
Awesome cookies! I love soft, chewy peanut butter cookies and the oatmeal in these cookies really made them extra good. I made half the batch as is and the second half I added peanut butter chips and chocolate chips. I also added some extra oatmeal, which didn't hurt them at all. They are a hit and my whole family loves them. Thanks so much!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
I had not had pancakes in a long, long time, so I went searching for a recipe and decided on this one. They were wonderful! One bite and my dad made a loud, "Mmmmmm!" I added a few chocolate chips to my daughter's and she loves them, too. Really enjoyed these pancakes and will definitely make them again. Thanks so much, Eugene.

Hamburger Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2006
I gave this recipe 3 stars because as it is, it's fair. I doctored it up and it turned out really good. I used 5 med-large potatoes and cooked them in the microwave until they were done. Once cooled, I peeled and thinly sliced them. I fried the hamburger with onions and fresh garlic, added lots of pepper, Mrs. Dash, basil, beef bouillion and half a head of cabbage, roughly diced. I mixed the cream of mushroom soup with milk, sour cream, mexican cheese dip, pepper, beef bouillion, onion flakes, garlic, chili powder and Mrs. Dash. Inbetween layers of potatoes and meat mixture, I added lots of cheese and the sauce. Baked it 1 hour and 10 minutes at 375. It turned out pretty good!

Kosher Salt Encrusted Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
I baked mine at a higher temperature, but ours turned out really good. I coated the meat with kosher salt, fresh cracked pepper and fresh garlic and then wrapped the meat up plastic wrap over-night. Would definitely make again. I will also try this with other kinds of roasts. It was a little salty on the ends for my parents, but otherwise very good. You've made me unafraid to make Prime Rib now! Thanks for a good recipe, Holly.

Oatmeal Toffee Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 9, 2005
Wow, these cookies are really good! I doubled the recipe because in our family, the first dozen is gone right off the bat and the original recipe said it made 2 to 3 dozen...not nearly enough for us. I used parchment paper like others said to do, and I could tell they would stick if you didn't. I scraped the melted toffee off the spatula after each batch because if I didn't, it would mess up the next batch of cookies. Also, even though I doubled the recipe, I only used an 8 oz bag of toffee bits and that seemed to be enough. I also added in a small amouth of dark chocolate chips. And, as another reviewer said, I added a small amount of butter flavored crisco in with real butter to make softer cookies. The flavor of these cookies is wonderful and I'll definitely be making these again! Thanks for such an awesome recipe, Lori!

Nut Goody Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2005
This is an excellent chocolate fix for my family when we want a quick little something for dessert. I've used cashews, almonds, peanuts and pecans in this recipe but my personal favorite is the cashews! I made these for my daughter's school Easter party last year and the kids loved it!

Swiss Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2005
I've made a few changes. Instead of 1/4 cup milk, I use a full soup can of liquid. I fill the can about 3/4 of the way with milk and then add dry cooking sherry to fill the can the rest of the way. This gives it a wonderful flavor and extra creamy sauce! I also sautee onions and mushrooms in a little butter and put that over the cheese before I pour the sauce on. It's a very good recipe and my family loves it!

Rosie's Bok Choy Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2004
Although I changed things up a bit, I absolutely love this recipe! Instead of bok choy, I used green leaf lettuce and romaine. Didn't have sesame seeds, so omited that. Added more toasted almonds and added grilled chicken from the night before. Wow! We're fighting over who gets the last helping! The dressing in this dish is out of this world!

Babe Ruth Bars

These were good, but they did turn out kinda soggy. Not quite what I was looking for. If I try these again, I will probably cook the mixture longer and add more cereal. It was very easy to make, though.

Deeeelicious Vidalia Dressing

Reviewed: May 15, 2002
This recipe was very tasty! I used a red onion instead and it gave the salad dressing such a pretty pink color. I also substituted Splenda for the sugar and it made the recipe sugar-free and low-carb, just perfect for the low-carb diet I'm on. Thank you, Dawn. It's a great recipe! :o)

Key Lime Pie I

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2002
This was the first Key Lime Pie I've ever made and it turned out really good. My 5 year old daughter just loved it! So did everyone else. I added a few drops of green food coloring, too. Very pretty pie, until my daughter stuck her fingers in it to taste it! Thanks Irene! Great recipe! By the way, Irene, are you by any chance related to Leonardo DiCaprio?

Quacker Jack

This was really good popcorn. I didn't bake it as long as it called for, but it turned out just fine. Very tasty! I think there might be an error in the listing of 2 cups of Oil...I did NOT use that much oil to pop the popcorn in. I used my Stir-Crazy popper instead of using a pot to pop it in, and 1 cup of unpopped popcorn made plenty. I also added a teaspoon a vanilla when I added the baking soda. Thanks Yvonne...you've given me something new to make now. :O)

Bob's Blue Cheese Dressing

This is a really good dressing. Thank you so much, Bob...I've been looking for something like this for a long time. Bottled just doesn't cut it and what a pleasure it was to have a salad at home with this dressing on it. Wonderful flavor!

Almond Buttercrunch Candy I

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2001
PieTop, I'm the one who submitted this recipe. I just wanted to mention that sometimes candy thermometers aren't accurate and when you smell it burning, that's a good sign it's over done. Also, when my mom makes her candy, she only stirs hers once in a while after it's boiling, and it's alright to do that. Hers never burns. Stirring it continuously can cause it to take longer to cook, causing it to scorch. So next time, stir it up until it begins to boil, and while it's boiling, stir only occasionally until it reaches 300*. I hope this helps out. Good luck.

Oh my, was this ever good. I've got a sweet tooth and didn't feel it was sweet enough for me, so I added some extra sugar. Everyone loved it!!! We've got ample Apricots available right now, so I thought I would try it with them and again, it turned out great. Thanks for sharing.

Allie's Delicious Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2001
This was really good. The best I've tried. It turned out creamy and yummy and my daughter made me set some aside for her lunch tomorrow. The only thing I did different was to add a little chopped onion. What a terrific way to use up left-over ham. I also liked that it had 3 different kinds of cheese.

Dry Rub for Ribs

Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2001
I had an idea of the kind of dish I wanted to fix, so this is what I did. I cut up 2 chicken breasts into chunks and sauteed them until done in a pan. I added steamed broccoli and 2 sliced green onions to the chicken and then poured this Alfredo sauce over it. I doubled the sauce. I didn't use as much parmeasan, but I did thicken the sauce slightly with a little flour and water. It was DELICIOUS and there was hardly any left overs. I also didn't use the heavy cream, but I used half and half instead. I've finally found the Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo I've been looking for and it's as good as anything you'll ever get in a restaurant. Thanks for the inspiration.

Calico Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2001
I had a recipe similar to this but I lost it. These beans turned out pretty good the first time I made them, but the second time I added some ketchup, worchestershire sauce and molasses and that was more like the recipe I remember. Great for a summer bar-b-q or picnic.
