About this Cook
I'm a horrendously lazy cook.
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely love using a slow cooker. I'm productive in the morning, not at 5 p.m., so anything I can prepare in the morning is great! I also love frozen, ready to bake chicken breasts. I just sprinkle them with some seasonings and bake them. They're delicious(and healthy)!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom used to make homemade whole wheat bread and I would love to start doing that, too. I just know that I'd mess it up, though. But it is a tradition that I really want to continue for my daughters.
My cooking triumphs
I accidentally cooked a turkey upside down one year for Thanksgiving and it was delicious! Note that my only triumph was because of a potential tragedy. That's how things go in my kitchen! :) I have come across some great recipes on this site, though, and with some tweaking they have become family favorites that even my 1-year-old and 3-year-old will eat. That's a triumph for me!
My cooking tragedies
I made a gross stuffing for Thanksgiving that no one ate. I made salty cookies. I made cookies with no sugar (accidentally). I tried to make homemade calzones and the dough never rose. I haven't used yeast since that experience because I'm sure it was user error. On more than one occasion I've cooked an entire dinner only to throw it out and get McDonald's. My sister and I made a beautiful apple pie once. As we ate it, we realized something was wrong. Apparently we forgot to bake it for the remaining 45 minutes or so. (sigh)

Slow Cooker Chicken Taco Soup
After making this as the recipe states, I switched the beer out for chicken stock and added one or two more small chicken breasts. Delicious! I especially love it with the sour cream mixed in. :)

Merlot Dipping Sauce
We've made this three times in the past month. Absolutely delicious, and I wouldn't change a thing. We serve the sauce in little bowls for dipping.

Luscious Lima Bean Soup II
First time I made it exactly as written and it was pretty good. Second time I made it, I blended it a little at the end with an immersion blender. Not too much--I left most of it intact, but just thickened it up a little. Oh, and I used a pound of cubed ham (prepackaged) instead of bacon and I really liked it. I like my soups chunky.
