About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love chicken curry. I'm learning to cook Indian food. My sister-in-law married a man from Nepal so it's been really neat to learn about the food they make from him and our friends. I've always loved baking desserts and cookies. Anything with rice is awsome. I don't really know what it is about rice but I love all kinds, jasmine, basmati, brown, texamati... bring it on.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas my mom and our family and friends get together and make cookies for the children's home. At my dad's house we each had a night when we had to choose what was for dinner and make it. I loved the nights when I got to cook, especially because when you cook you DON'T have to clean up!
My cooking triumphs
I made chocolate caramel truffles for Valentine's years ago. Wow, that was a challenge. Last year I made a pumpkin cheesecake with a pecan glaze. It was to die for. This year I've been asked to make all the sugar cookies for the baskets we sell as a fund-raiser for the Wichita Chorus Sweet Adelines because mine were so good last year. That's about 15-20 dozen cookies! I can't wait!

Sugar Cookie Frosting
The proportions are perfect but I use unsalted butter and heavy cream.

Penuche Sugar Fudge
It turned out crumbly. It tasted okay but the pieces just fell apart.

Spicy Pumpkin Fudge
It tasted very good but although it has spices and pumpkin, I don't really feel that those are the main flavors. It's more of a butterscotch fudge with a hint of pumpkin spice.
