About this Cook
Im what my friends call an ethinic salad now. My family (mum, dad, and 3 siblings)immigrated to Australia from spain and then i was born a few years later in Melbourne. I lived most of my life in Australia surrounded by the Spanish community of other immigrants. So the food of Spain was the food that was on our family table everyday. And living in Australia i loved there gastonomical fare also. I also lived in Spain for a year, where i truley fell in love with all things SPANISH, especialy the food. I moved to the USA to marry the love of my in the year 2000. We have 2 amazing boys. Now our wonderful family of 4 has settled in the Springs to make our own roots and empart the flavors of my life on our new community and friends.
My favorite things to cook
Mediterannian food is number one always, but i love to cook any pallet pleasing recipes i come by and so far that has been recipes from every continant.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Wow spaniards love too cook so it will be hard to name a specific tradition, but here goes. A tradition in my family (when in Spain) is to go up to the Casa del Rio (house of the river). Which is a small 800 year old shepherds house in the French/Spanish Pirenes. There we cook all our meals on the open fire of the huge open fire place in the corner of the living/dinning room. The house would smell of sizzling fresh buttifara (a huge thick sausage rolled into a very large coil), thick sliced newly grilled sheperds bread spred with garlic, tomato and olive oil. A large half eaten Jamon hanging from the rafters, and juicy green and black olives stuffed with peppers or anchovis on a plate on the table. Calamari frying in the paella pan on the fire also. Food is not just something we eat in my family but what brings us together for the most memorable moments of my life.
My cooking triumphs
Paella, tortilla de patatas(traditional spanish potato omlete), aussie sausage rolls(had to learn as i cant just buy them here),southAmerican empanads, chili, its a realy long list.
My cooking tragedies
Wow this is a longer list than the last. And quite embarassing. SO Next question please!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili
It was delicious, i made 4 times as much as the recipe calls for, but i did use some suggestions others made. I added 2 cans Rotel diced tomatoes with chilies and 1 can corn drained. It was a big hit, i had sour cream and different kinds of grated cheeses and scoops corn chips to serve with it. I will be making this over and over again.

Classic Stuffed Turkey
I made this last night for a christmas party dinner i hosted and it was all gobbled up. I thought the mushrooms were a little too over powering the flavoe so i will half that next time. But over all a very tasty recipe. Oh and i did add a lot of chicken seasoning as i like my stuffing well spiced not bland.

Eggless Eggnog
I love this eggnog, i never add the rum, i just dont like the flavor but i do add some cinnamon. I usualy eye ball it when adding the milk, cause i like it thick but not too thick. I use fat free milk and it still turns out quite creamy. Thanks for the great idea its a winner at my christmas party every year.
