About this Cook
I have 3 adult sons, all living away but not far from home. Cooking has always been fun, but fited around horses, shift work, and weaving as an artist doing the round of art shows and sales.
My favorite things to cook
I love chicken and barbequing, Barbeques keep the house cool, and allows more time to kayack and take nature photos.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Turkey curry for New Years. I have been working at chaning old festive food traditions for healthier, and less expensive ones than those handed down.
My cooking triumphs
Cheesecakes, apple cakes, roasts, Yorkshire pudding as a special treat, and barbequing. I tend to experiment for company and fortunately have few dissapointments.
My cooking tragedies
Chili that was too hot to reserect, and stew that I burnt because I forgot it was cooking as I was trying to finishe a weaving commission.

Cranberry and Cilantro Quinoa Salad
Have made this 3 times now. Once to take to a pot luck. I love it. My sister took it to her restaurant and sold out. Have made it as is and also with a few changes. Great both ways. Not a lot of difference using chicken broth instead pf water. I used walnuts second time as ran out of almonds. I like the walnuts more than almonds. Cut out the canberries when serving to my niece wha has a big yeast poblem and is on a no nonsence diet. Quinoa is one of the few things she can eat. Love the recipe. Thanks. Am looking for more recipes using grains I have never used before to expand my healthy horizons.

Hasty Chocolate Pudding
I am in my 60's. My Mom used to make this sort of pudding for us all the time . Brings back memories of warm, happy kitchens and families all eating together around the table at every meal. No need to buy pudding mixes with all their artificial ingredients. By using brown sugar instead of white and by deleting the cocoa, you get butterscotch pudding. By the same token, if you scorch white sugar, you get caramel pudding. Personnally, I used to love the skin on top of the puddings. Mom would pour the hot puddings into desert bowls to cool, and each of us got our own serving of skin covered pudding.
