About this Cook
I am a mom of 2 beautiful girls and am married to a wonderful man. When we met he had a long list of food he did not like. Cheese being one of them. Who doesn't like cheese? I have been cooking for him over 18 years now and his list of dislikes has greatly shortened. He likes cheese now, but I still cannot get him to eat tomatos. I learned to cook from the strong and wonderful women in my life. I was raised by my mom and grandmother and remember standing in the kitchen and watching them cook. My friends always wanted to come and eat at my house because they loved my mom's food. Fast forward to my college years and it was the same thing in my apartment kitchen. Boy I could doctor up a package of Ramen noodles like nobodys business. After having my girls I have enjoyed watching them stand in the kitchen and watch and help me cook, I can see the joy in their eyes when they cook too.
My favorite things to cook
I am an all over the board gal. I really don't have a favorite type of food, just food that tastes good. I like trying new things and food that I think my family will like.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up on holidays when everyone else was cooking traditional holiday fare, my mom would always try something different. So I guess that is my favorite family cooking tradition. Trying out new recipes for the holidays.
My cooking triumphs
I guess a triumph of mine would be that last year I made Thanksgiving dinner all by my self. I had my in-laws visiting from Germany and I pulled the whole meal off. Everything was finished on time and everything tasted great!
My cooking tragedies
I am not a cake maker! There I said it. I like to think that I am, but deep downinside I know I am not. They taste great, but boy are they ugly.

White Peach Sangria
Overall this is a great recipe. When made as the directions stated I thought it came across too peachy, so I added a bottle of club soda and the whole can of lemonade concentrate. Since it is mid March peaches are hard to come by so I used a bag of frozen peaches and a bag of mixed berries, I also sliced up some limes as well. It was very pretty and tasty to boot!

Russian Chicken with Feta Cheese
Wow this was great! My whole family loved this, my daughter would take a bite of chicken and then spoon more sauce onto her plate. The whole the time she was saying "yummy mom this is great!" The only change I made was instead of all sour cream, I mixed in half fat free sour cream and half low fat plain yogurt. I also used fresh parsley instead of dried. I served it with gnocchi for my husband and I and made rice for my daughters. Both were good with it, but next time I think I will just serve it with rice. I will be making this again.

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings
Wow this was great. I made it for the first chilly and rainy night of fall. I did add some celery and carrots while I sauteed the onions and I followed the directions on the box of baking mix like others suggested. My husband said it was a keeper and I actually had a bowl of it for breakfast the next day.
