Me and my hubby
About this Cook
I didn't learn much, if anything, about cooking growing up. My husband was really my inspiration. He is naturally good at cooking and it's also something he greatly enjoys. After watching him cook all the time for us the first few years we were married, I decided it was time to step up and start trying to impress him as well as our two young children. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but I'm getting there. Recently my husband told me I need to stop being so hard on myself about my cooking because I do a good job... that really made me feel good!
My favorite things to cook
Anything in the crock pot! I love the way the smell fills the house and how flavorful things taste coming out of it after cooking together all day
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking holiday treats with my mom and sister
My cooking triumphs
I consider anything that my kids ask for seconds on or gets an 'oh my gosh this is good' out of my husband from a triumph. I know I'm not a bad cook, but it's nice to know they really like something that I made
My cooking tragedies
Luckily at this time I don't have any

Coconut Ambrosia Salad
I was never a big ambrosia fan until I found this recipe. Now I can't get enough of it! I used the suggestion of other reviewers of adding pistachio pudding mix in and I think that's what really makes the recipe. I also add extra fruit, such as chopped apples, bananas, grapes, etc. We found the coconut and marshmallows to be a bit much, so we only use 1 cup of each now

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip
This was a big hit with my family! After reading reviews I decided to add a few shakes of Worcestershire sauce and some garlic powder to the liquid. I also covered the meat in some garlic powder before sticking it in the crock pot. I was really concerned about the beer, as even after 5 hours I could smell it, but once it was done I didn't taste it at all. The au jus was a little bland for my tastes, so I added an au jus packet to the liquid and let it simmer in the crockpot on high while I cut the meat up. I also added provolone cheese to the sandwiches. With those changes this came out PERFECT!
