I love to cook and I am always looking for the perfect recipe. I am a stay at home mom to my gorgeous five year old daughter. I also help my husband with his custom motorcycle shop. I've been happily married for 11 years and he's my willing guinea pig for all my new recipes. And thankfully our 5 year old has an adventurous taste, too. I don't think she's come across a food that she doesn't like yet, which is really nice. She loves to help me in the kitchen so maybe she'll grow up to be a great cook. Neither one of us like the clean up part, though. My husband is a great cook, but he doesn't have much time to devote to it. He makes the best sweet and sour chicken and fried rice, so we get him to make that for us on the weekend. Unfortunately, I have not mastered cooking with a wok, although I am working on it.
My favorite things to cook
Right now with a 5 yr. old helping, I'm all about fast and easy. I love to bake, though. Cakes and cookies are my favorites. We've been trying to cook healthier by using organic produce and meat. One of my pet peeves is not having any idea what half the ingredients are in prepackaged foods. We're trying to avoid so many chemicals like MSG, so that's why I love this site. So many great recipes with ingredients I have in my kitchen.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom was a great cook. She learned by watching her mother-in-law who was also a wonderful cook. I guess you could say I come from a long line of fry cooks. They can make chicken fried steak, fried chicken, french fries, etc. better than any I have ever tasted.
My cooking triumphs
I feel like a have a triumph every time my family really likes a new recipe and I can add it to our family cookbook.
My cooking tragedies
I've had quite a few tragedies. When you cook a lot those are bound to happen. One that was particularly memorable was when I had just gotten married and had made a huge pan of fudge. Well, I dropped the whole thing and fudge went everywhere. Mike came in to find me crying on the floor in the middle of all the pieces of fudge. It's funny now, but I wasn't too pleased when he started laughing at me and my mess.
