About this Cook
I am the mother of seven boys and one little girl. Their ages are 25-9 months. I've been married for 23 years. I am currently finishing a degree in early childhood development. Four of my sons are currently serving in the military. Three are soldiers and one is a marine.
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking with fresh products verses processed. The natural the better. I like to know what I am eating. I am a scratch cooker from way back. I love cooking different foods while learning about the different cultures they come from.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love having my kids and/or their spouses all piled into my kitchen with everyone doing a different job. One cooking, one sauteing, one stirring. I just think it is more fun to have everyone involved.
My cooking triumphs
Years ago I was so intimidated by yeast breads and any kind of canning. Well, I had a good friend who walked me through my first canning session, which was homemade salsa, from then on I was hooked. I made myself try the yeast breads until I had success...now that is the only kind of bread I feed my family. I make all of our bread from scratch.
My cooking tragedies
I am still yet to accomplish making pie crusts. I CAN NOT get this down!!!

Wedding Cake
This is a wonderful cake. It cooks up just fine. However, it doesn't taste like wedding cake. The cake was still lovely...it just didn't have the texture of a wedding cake. I will use this recipe again. Just not for a wedding cake.

Buttercream Icing
I made this for the first time and iced my sons wedding cake. It was four tiers high. I was a nervous wreck. The icing tastes wonderful. I read the reviews so I subbed butter for the shortening. Delicious!!

Michelle's Coconut Chicken Curry
I made this recipe with these changes. I addes the 1 t. garam masala, 2 t. brown sugar, 2 T. lime juice and 1/8 t. ginger. With the modifications it was decent. I will probably make this again...not sure.
