Texan-belle gone international - living in Europe with hubby and daughter in Munich, Germany. Love to travel, cook, take pictures, draw and paint, decorate, investigate new and interesting cultures/cooking/lands. Love to bike with my family. Love great wine/wine tasting. Enjoy Christian pop music, classical and acoustic music, country, bluegrass and some folk music. Love being a mom.
My favorite things to cook
MEXICAN, Mediterranean, Italian, Stir-Fry, German, and my own creative stuff.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom is a Southern cook. Our family cooks Southern as well on occasion, but tend to be adventurous and enjoy international cuisine.
My cooking triumphs
Testimony...before I was married I was a mediocre cook. Then I have to say I actually prayed very hard and intensely studied recipes before I got married, because I was to be a housewife for the first time (I was a single mom for 7 years). Amazing, but true - I have had too many triumphs to mention over the past 5 years. When I look back I can't believe how it happened...literally, I taught myself. I moved from the States to Europe not knowing the metric system. I had to go by "ear" to bake, cook, etc. Now I have a great repute for being a gourmet cook and people love to come over to eat whatever I make. Thank you Lord for some "cooking wisdom"!
My cooking tragedies
I never failed at making meatballs, but on my husband's birthday, I made mushy meatballs. I was so disappointed, however it just happened. I usually make great meatballs and do everything from scratch, especially my famous marinara. Oh, well, you can't win 'em all - it was just a "mushy meatball moment!"
