Welcome to my "place". I began dating my now husband in the summer of 1987. We married in 1992- high school sweet hearts. I'm still head over heals for him! We have 2 sons and a daughter. We're very involved with our community and our childrens' schools. We love weekend getaways with the kids and our personal date night one a week-it keeps our marriage strong. Our Catholic values lead & bond us. Our family goal is to treat others the way we would like to be treated. Good food makes good conversation and there's always good food around here. Welcome!
My favorite things to cook
I like to cook EVERYTHING!! I especially enjoy seafood or meats with rich sauces-the love of italian in me and it's fun to have that $25-40 restaurant plate at home for $5 or $10. I like traditional American cuisine, home baked goods and grilling. I take pride in garnishing.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sunday night dinners are kids pick. My 3 children take turns looking on the computer or through cook books/magazines and pick out the entire meal. They make sure that any needed items are on the shopping list in advance. They put on their apron and they are the chef in charge. I observe and go hands on as appropriate for their ages. I treasure this time with them and I am proud too. They also benefit by creating a balanced meal and they try new foods by choice. I know they will all know how to cook well when they leave our "nest". Did I mention that I'm proud of them?!
My cooking triumphs
I have no fear of trying to prepare anything. Thank you Grandma Dorothy for your cooking instincts.
My cooking tragedies
Let's go back to child hood- not realizing the difference between baking soda and baking powder. Blech.
Once, I caught the oven on fire broiling lobster-a small fire, and I got it out quick by turning it off, removing the lobster and running it to the sink, and shutting the oven door to smolder it. I was sure shaken up about it.
