About this Cook
I'm married, no kids and "retired" a couple of years ago at 39. Had worked for 23 years, right out of high school, for one company. Someone came in out bought the company and a bunch of us got the boot. Best thing that happened to me in a while (just in case the husband happens to read this)!
My favorite things to cook
I just like cooking everything, from appetizers to baking to making soups. But soups are probably my favorite to make, appetizers are my favorite meal.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Everybody at my house for Christmas and trying new recipes. I try to make a fudge or something for everyone to take home with them.
My cooking triumphs
Just trying new recipes and on friends to get their opinions! I'm too much of a critic and wouldn't make 1/2 the stuff I make again if it wasn't for the opinions of my friends...brave ones to be my taste testers.
My cooking tragedies
None really that I can think of. I think if you plan well enough and keep enough time slotted to do what you need to do, everything will turn out fine.

Kalua Pig in a Slow Cooker
I used pork loin, running around at the last minute and couldn't find a pork butt. It was wonderful, everyone loved the smoke flavor. I served it on rolls. Delicious !

Iced Coffee
I have this every day before work. I have the bullet and blend up a cup at a time - take less than 5 minutes to prepare, save me money and time stopping at Dunkin Donuts. I don't use the chocolate syrup - I'm the minority by not liking chocolate much and it is still wonderful. Thanks for the recipe.

Chicken Fiesta Salad
I made this last night - it was very very good. I even had to alter it, using taco seasoning (instead of fajita seasoning), can corn (instead of mexican style) and diced can tomatoes w/ green chiles (instead of salsa)and I used light ranch dressing - hey it was a last minute decision so I improvised AND it was still DELICIOUS !
