About this Cook
I am a working mom, with a German hubby, picky 11 and 3 yr old daughters, and 3 dogs.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook desserts... Especially chocolate based desserts! But I also love to cook family favorites and good old fashioned comfort foods. Currently trying to expand my horizons and try some new recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Roasted pumpkin seeds at Halloween, sweet potato casserole, cornbread casserole and coconut cream pie for Thanksgiving, all sorts of wonderful candies like fudge, peanut brittle and toffee at Christmas, etc.
My cooking triumphs
Well, anytime I can get everyone in the family to eat something I feel like it's a triumph... But I'm especially proud of my coconut cream pie with shortbread crust.
My cooking tragedies
Well, which one do I pick? I once roasted a turkey with the plastic giblet bag still inside. I've forgotten the baking powder in my cookies, and have made several batches of jam that never set up.

Oma's Cottage Cheesecake
This was SO easy and extremely yummy. If you have been avoiding cheesecake because of the high calories, this is a fantastic substitution. Use Splenda for an even greater calorie difference.
