About this Cook
My passion for cooking started late in life, about 3 years ago. I went a year without being able to cook my own food, and I think that sparked it. Now I am a whiz at following recipes and making food many enjoy, which is always satisfying. And I have also been experimenting with my own recipes. I would like to start tackling more difficult recipes.
My favorite things to cook
Italian, Asian, BBQ, cakes, cookies
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holiday meals, grillin' out, comfort food
My cooking triumphs
Perfecting my chili recipe. Making roast beef for a party of 8, creating a frying pan quiche...delicious!
My cooking tragedies
There were a lot when I first started out. I could boil water and that's about it.

Bird Seed Energy Bars
I made a few alterations to this recipe, and took some advice from other posters. I added an extra egg, and it still turned out a little dry, but are still pretty good. I used 1/2 cup of regular dark chocolate chips, and 1/2 of white. I used a cup of cranberries. I doubled the sunflower seeds since I could not find seasame seeds, and added 2/3 cup of sliced almonds. They were very thick because of the 9X13 pan I used, and I think I should have used the batter for cookies instead. I have been eating small sqaures for breakfast the past couple of days, and am taking them to a bike race this weekend. I'll post up how my team likes them.
