'Momma Made Em' Chicken and Sausage Gumbo

This was a great base recipe for gumbo. The beauty of making gumbo is that you can make it all your own. I PERSONALLY would NEVER make gumbo with anything other than andoullie sausage and if you want to serve some really authentic gumbo try serving over potato salad instead of rice. The tomato's are strictly for a creole style gumbo and NOT a cajun gumbo so I never use them either. Have fun and experiment with things. It's hard to mess up gumbo when you have a great roux.

Chicken Chile Spaghetti

I made this as a Birthday dinner for a member of my family and was VERY weary about the way it looked before I baked it but after it cooked and I mixed it all around a final time it looked and tasted DELICIOUS! This is a keeper for sure!

Chicken and Spinach Alfredo Lasagna

I wanted to make Lasagna but my Mom was coming to dinner and she is not a fan of red sauce so I was looking for a recipe for Chicken Alfredo and found this. It was the best of both worlds so I decided to try it and YUMMMMMMM! Boy was it a hit! I made just a few small changes by omiting the mushrooms after lots of objections and used wheat pasta to make it a bit more carb friendly, I also bought a rotisserie chicken from Wal-Mart and used it. I will CERTAINLY make this again!

Cream Cheese Frosting II

VERY yummy icing, I used this on Sam's Famous Carrot Cake (also a WONDERFUL recipe) and the 2 complimented each over VERY well. It is VERY important to make sure the cream cheese and butter is soft before attempting to mix. I learned that the hard way and spend 30 minutes cleaning up after my mixer catastrophe. All in all a VERY yummy icing recipe.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

I was really happy with this version of carrot cake. The ONLY thing I would change next time is to add less raisins. My husband and I are not huge raisin fans so I would half the amount of raisins or omit them all together. I LOVED the walnuts and even added them on top of the cake after the icing. I thought this cake was moist enough to make as a loaf without the icing as well. Overall an excellent recipe and definite keeper!

Nacho Chicken

My husband wanted mexican for supper tonight and I wanted to do something easy so this was a big hit. I thought it was a little heavy with all the cheese so next time I will add an extra can of diced tomatoes. Overall it was a big hit with the husband and 3 kids.

Sugar Cookie Icing

The best icing recipe ever! I took the advice of another review and used peppermint and it was oh so YUMMY. I do suggest you use less peppermint and just add to taste because it was a bit overpowering.

Holiday Dressing

This was my first attempt at making Thanksgiving dressing. My mother always had Thanksgiving at her house and made her traditional cornbread dressing. This year my husband and I had Thanksgiving at our house and I decided to try a recipe that was new so there were no expectations :) My whole family LOVED the dressing, it was not too mushy but just moist enough. My husband even said it was better than his mothers. Those are words I will always treasure and this will become our traditional Thanksgiving dressing for years to come.

Sweet Potato Casserole I

I made this for my first Thanksgiving at my house, it was a BIG HIT! I thought about doubling the recipe afraid it would not feed everyone but I am glad I didn't because it is so sweet you can only eat a small portion. I left out the orange because it didn't appeal to me. This will be a traditional dish every Thanksgiving.
