I'm a single professional living and working in downtown Austin, which I think is the greatest place on earth!
My favorite things to cook
For most of my life, I considered it "cooking" if I combined two ingredients, so I feel pretty accomplished by making a mean batch of chili. I also like slow cooker recipes. Really like cooking things that work well as leftovers since I'm usually just cooking for one.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Mom was a fantastic baker--me, not so much, but it's one area in which I'm trying to improve my skills. My fave tradition is making chex mix for the holidays (the recipe we use is called "scramble").
My cooking triumphs
My chili and pot roasts are always a hit, as well "yummy potatos" (the kind made with hashbrowns). The easy green beans recipe on this site produced what was prob my best cooking experiement simply because I usually don't like cooked veggies and loved these (as did my guests).
My cooking tragedies
My most recent was peanut butter cookies I made from a mix--they're as hard as rocks!
