Mama D's Italian Bread

Pretty good. Very easy to make, but did not come out like Italian bread, to me. The texture was very much like sourdough bread - very dense and chewy, but without the sourdough flavor. Crust was a very light color, and not so much crunchy as chewy. May try again to see if it is my technique, but also still looking for perfect Italian bread recipe.

Alfredo Sauce

Very good, very easy to prepare. Be prepared - VERY cheesy! Original recipe yield, if for 4, would be very small servings. I served 3 and it was a little short. Will probably do half again more next time.

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

Pretty good! Easy to make, although dough is extremely sticky. Because of this, I didn't even try to roll these out, I just sort of spread it out with my hands, cut and then plopped the dough onto the pan. Biscuits were tasty and tender, but did not get as huge as those pictured, nor were they very round - kinda messy looking. I may try again, but will also keep trying other recipes as well.

Balsamic Glazed Carrots

Very good. I found it took quite a bit longer than 10 minutes to get the carrots tender, but still an easy and tasy recipe. My boyfriend (who is a veggie hater anyway) only thought it was so-so, but I enjoyed it very much. Will probably use again.

Italian Roast Beef I

Very good! Meat has great flavor. My roast had some spots that were very tender, and others not so much, but I think it had a lot more to do with the particular piece of meat I bought than it did this recipe. Very easy to prepare. My boyfriend loved it and raved! Will definitely use again. Thanks!

Hot Fudge Pudding Cake II

This was just okay for us. The recipe is a good one - easy to make, works just as described, ingredients I had on hand. But the end result was just not something to our taste. Those who like very gooey, drippy fudgy desserts would probably love it! Just wasn't right for us.

Beth's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Excellent, as all of Beth Sigworth's recipes apparently are! This recipe produced wonderfully yummy, soft chewy cookies. My boyfriend raved. Definitely a keeper! And for anyone reading this - if you haven't tried her Oatmeal cookie recipe, check it out - they are to die for!

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

I found this to be only so-so. The taste was extremely tomato-y, didn't give me that Italian marinara flavor I was looking for. However, I didn't have the wine, and I think possibly adding a bit more Italian seasoning, the wine, and letting it refrigerate overnight might make the difference. Will try again.

World's Best Lasagna

This recipe has very good flavor. Unfortunately, I used the "oven ready" type of lasagna - big mistake. The pasta came out tough and rubbery, and the topmost layer was hard. I will definitely use the standard kind next time. The sauce and flavors were quite good, I didn't find there was enough cheese using the recommended amounts, so will probably be just about doubling it. But, this recipe is a keeper and will definitely be used again!

Golden Sweet Cornbread

Incredibly good!! I don't even usually like cornbread that much, but this was awesome! Sweet, moist and tender on the inside, lightly crispy on the edges. Will definitely keep and make over and over! NOTE: Didn't taste nearly as good the next day as leftovers. Definitely make this the day you want to serve it to get that awesome, moist & sweet taste!

Chocolate Lover's Dream Cookies

Pretty good! Easy to make and my boyfriend LOVED them. I thought they were pretty good, but didn't like them as much as he did. Surprisingly, an airier texture and not as sweet as you would expect. I didn't have the hard candies, but otherwise made as specified. Will keep and use again.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Extremely tasty! My boyfriend ate them all in a couple of days. I left out the raisins just by preference, and had to use all butter because had no shortening. Otherwise, followed recipe exactly. Cookies tasted awesome and stayed chewy. They spread a lot and were very soft, but I expect that is because of the all-butter thing. I will try chilling the dough next time to see if I can get a bit more body, but these are definitely keepers!

Double Chocolate Biscotti

Tasted very good, but did not stay together at all. Biscotti crumbled at the slightest touch - would definitely not hold up for dunking. I will experiment some more, it could be my technique.

No-Bake Granola Bars

Pretty good. Tastes good, although VERY sweet. Very simple to make. However, not really like a granola bar, to me. Almost like a crispy candy bar or something. However, was a big hit with the kiddo so will probably make again.

Granny's Corn Flour Tortillas

Nice! Very simple to make and tasty. Frying them in a pan makes them a little bit stiff, so I may experiment with baking or something to try to get a more flexible tortilla. But, very tasty and a keeper!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Pretty good! My boyfriend liked it very much. Crust was simple to make, although VERY sticky until lots of flour added. Came out kind of chewy, not crispy at all for me. However, I baked on a cheapo store-bought aluminum pan, so a different pan or pizza stone might make all the difference! Will definitely make again.
