Dutch Apple Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2007
Just made this today. Recipe is true to it's name, it definitely tastes like something you'd find in PA Dutch country. My pie didn't exactly look like the picture :( and I think it could have used maybe one or two more apples, because my apples really cooked down. Also, I did not cook it like the recipe said, I used no parchment and cooked it on 450 for 10 minutes then lowered it to 350 for 35 minutes, because it was very similar to a breakfast apple pie recipe I made recently. Very rich!

Pumpkin Bar Icing

I used it to frost gingerbread cookies. Yummy. It reminded me of the frosting used on Cinnabons. Did anyone else think that? kag

Easy Homestyle Green Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2006
Easy to make; we thought it tasted better after sitting in the frig for a day. Unsalted beans might work a little better.

Mama's Ambrosia

I'm sorry this was an awful recipe. I made it for a baby shower and only one person ate it. After sitting in the frig for a short time it looked like bad (it was not appetizing looking at all).

Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

I have made this several times and ONLY for thanksgiving :). My family loves it! I usually make a little extra "sauce" or you could just put less green beans.

Gravy Baked Pork Chops

I thought it was kind of bland. I probably wouldn't make it again.

It was a good recipe. I used breadcrumbs instead of crackers. Cooking time was too long and my chops were dried out somewhat :(.

Party Pinwheels

I made these for a party. They seemed to go well, but no one asked me for the recipe :(. I didn't add the onions b/c I thought the taste of onions would permeate the entire other tastes, especially since it needed to chill for a few hours. They were easy to make, just a bit of prep with the chopping of things beforehand.

Homemade Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2005
I made this last night and took it to a playgroup dinner. Moms and kids enjoyed it. I added a little garlic powder, some dry mustard and pepper and did not use the parmesan cheese. Instead, I used more cheddar. I liked it, and so did everyone BUT my husband. So, I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 based on his comment. He may not have liked the very slight "garlic" taste to the recipe. Still very good though!

Sticks and Stones Candy Bark

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2004
I made this candy to take to my coworkers. They quickly gobbled it down. My husband liked it as well. My only problem with this recipe was that I could not find the nestle toll house semi-sweet chocolate raisins at any store. I had to substitute milk chocolate covered raisins instead. Also, I made a mistake and didn't save out the 1/2 bag of butterscotch morsels, but it really didn't effect the taste (just wasn't as pretty!). I guess I was rushing when I made it! It was very easy, though.

Grandma's Peanut Butter Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2004
This is AWESOME Peanut butter fudge. When I first made it, I made sure to cook it to the right temp, but was a little worried when it seemed so "soft." However, within minutes after pouring it in the pan it was solidifying. After a good two hours or so in the frig, it was ready to go. My husband is going to give this as gifts to his coworkers. I'm sure they'll be on a butter and sugar high aftewards--it is really RICH :). I'd recommend keeping it refrigerated though.
