About this Cook
Happily married with 3 teenage daughters, 2 dogs, a koi pond, a tropical fish tank and one lizard.
My favorite things to cook
Love good o'le country southern cooking, also, baking breads...without a bread machine...and desserts, just like my granny taught me!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being in the kitchen with my mom and grandma "fixing" and preparing for a holiday meal the night before. They're both gone now and I miss them so much! I do carry on the tradition by preparing their handed down recipes with my daughters!
My cooking triumphs
Learning to smoke a turkey with hickory (mmmm) Also, re-creating my dad's "secret" BBQ sauce and getting rave reviews from my brothers.
My cooking tragedies
Ha! Too many to count. (it's part of the journey, ya know) And although I'm a pretty good baker, I can never seem to toast garlic bread in the broiler without burning it. LOL

Almond Maple Granola
I hadn't made granola before and now I am so glad I tried this recipe. My teenage girls and hubby absolutely LOVED it, as did I. I added 1 tsp of cinnamon and left out the wheat germ. I only used 1 cup of the coconut and it was perfect for our tastes. My girls took some to school and it was a big hit in the lunch room. Thanks so much for sharing the recipe!
