Best Aloha Meal Ever
About this Cook
I'm an engineer by trade, so I enjoy hobbies that allow me to create and "build". Cooking is a great outlet for that. The only down side is you can spend lots of time creating, then your masterpiece gets eaten in a matter of minutes!
My favorite things to cook
Desserts because I'm a chocoholic. I also like making party and potluck dishes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making Christmas cookies with the kids and poppyseed bread loaves as gifts for friends.
My cooking triumphs
Pulling off Christmas dinner for my parents, brother and sis-in-law every year.
My cooking tragedies
I tried using Splenda in fudge instead of sugar last year. VERY BAD IDEA!!

Poppy Seed Bread with Glaze
Wow... I went to search if someone already submitted a similar recipe to the one I make every year, and here it is! A woman at work years ago gave me this same recipe, except for the glaze I use 1/4 cup orange juice, 3/4 cup regular granulated sugar and 1 1/2 tsp. each of the almond, butter and vanilla extracts. I then heat the glaze mixture in the microwave for 1 minute to supersaturate it. This makes a crusty glaze. Everyone raves over it. Thanks for submitting this for others to enjoy! Makes a GREAT Holiday gift for neighbors and friends if you pour it into mini loaf pans and wrap them up.

Salsafied Chicken and Rice
This was great and my teen daughter had seconds and even ate leftovers, which she NEVER does. I added an entire jar of salsa to give it a little more kick. But now I have a way to make a chicken-rice dish my kids really enjoy.

Slow Cooker Pepper Steak
This was really good - my kids even liked it. We served it with couscous. I am always looking for good slow-cooker receipes since I work, and this is a keeper!
