My favorite things to cook
anything for a crowd of 6 or more.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For the past several Xmas' I've served prime rib, garlic mashed potatoes, green beans w/portabellos, italian sausage-apple-dried cranberry stuffing, numerous other sides/salads, fresh baked bread and pies galore for my family of 12. They won't let me out of it now. I cook for days...it's wonderful!
My cooking triumphs
Two of my friends and I once catered a buffet to surprise my Grandmother on her 90th birthday. We ended up with 60+ guests. It was great fun but exhausting. We cooked for days, stored everything in friend's refrigerators all over town and transported it all to the banquet room. Surprisingly, it was all tasty. When Gran turned 95, I decided to hire a caterer and enjoy the party!
My cooking tragedies
Meatloaf! It seems so simple, but always turns out as a brick of yuck! Should've paid more attention when Grandmother was making it, too late for that now, so I just don't attempt it anymore. The only ones happy when I attempt meatloaf are my dogs!
