About this Cook
Love country life and the self-sufficiency it brings. I am blessed with being able to bring up 3 of my 9 grandchildren. My house is always filled with laughter and fun.
My favorite things to cook
I prefer roasting and grilling my meats and vegetables and am always on the look out for savory recipes for these staples. I love to make wonderful desserts each day for the family. I like to make extras so that I can share with the neighbors.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Having my grandchildren help me prepare and cook Holiday meals. We start the night before on Thanksgiving and Easter and a week before for Christmas because we give cookies and other holiday fare away as gifts. For St. Patty's Day we get up early and start cooking for Supper Buffet!.
My cooking triumphs
Custards that come out awesome every time.
My cooking tragedies
Forgetting to turn the oven off and finding it still going after 7 hours!

Succulent Pork Roast
Love this recipe!! I had a 2 1/2 pund roast so cut the roasting time down to 1 1/2 hours and it was just right. I didn't have any cherries on hand so used Mandarin oranges and orange marmalade in place of the cherries. I added 1 T + 1 tsp of marmalade to the can of Mandarin Oranges and it was wonderful. The pork was fork tender and so juicy! I have stocked my larder with cherries so that I can use the exact recipe the next time we have pork. Thank you for sharing this recipe which is now a family favorite in my house.
