About this Cook
Since moving out of my parents home two years ago I found that I was required to cook for myself. This lead me to discover that cooking is both wonderfully challenging and highly entertaining at the same time. Cooking and baking has become one of my favorite hobbies - a tasty one at that.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I fear my family is not one that is filled with tradition. My parents notion of cooking comes out of a freezer box and thus I had come to believe that my families cooking traditions had been lost but once my love of cooking became a larger part of my life I went in search of the family traditions from my grandparents. As a good old scottish family I since learned to make hagis.
My cooking triumphs
I successfully on my own made yeast bread. Complete with rising and punching down and rising again. Using the make shift recipie my grandmother received from her mother which had no actual measurments on it I made bread. It was a wonderful feeling.
My cooking tragedies
In my attempt to create chocolate covered spoons for my inlaws as a Christmas present I burned the chocolate. The smell of burnt chocolate would not leave my kitchen for days. Though I must admit that it was a way of showing my husband that chocolate can be burnt - he didn't believe me.

Italian Bread Bowls
This was the very first time I have ever made a yeast bread! It was lots of fun and rather easy actually. I would suggest mixing in the flour with a wooden spoon instead of electric beaters. The taste was a little bland on its own but once you put the soup into to it took on the flavours of the soup. The only problem was that they were very small, next time I'll make four instead of eight.

Breakfast Muffins
I used canned peaches in this recipie and it tasted pretty good, a little bland though. The only problem I had was that I used muffin papers and the baked muffins really stuck to them. When you pull the paper off you lose about 1/3 of the muffin.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
These cookies are amazing. We couldn't stop eatting them. It became important to make them smaller so that they would last longer. This is a very easy to make recipe that can be lots of fun to do with the kids.
