About this Cook
When I was five years old I got down every container of spice my mother had and was tasting them. She came in and started scolding me and my grandmother walked in behind her and said "now Florence, don't yell at her. If she doesn't taste them how will she ever learn which ones to use for what. That began my love both of cooking and of spices and herbs. Not to mention that in that moment my grandmother was elevated to the status of sainthood in this little girl's eyes. Since that day, you couldn't keep me out of the kitchen with a stick.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy making breads and baked things most of all. Cakes, brownies, casseroles, roasts. I also have a knack for gravy and make various kinds often.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Stayin up all night the day before Thanksgiving and slow cooking the Turkey while putting the rest of the meal together.
My cooking triumphs
My first time making the Thanksgiving turkey for my family of eight and guests at the age of thirteen. Winning first and second place in the 4-h banana bread contest. I had baked both loaves at the same time from the same batter and let my sister enter the spare loaf because she begged me. My brand new Chedder beer bread that I made up entirely. Oh man, is it good!
My cooking tragedies
A pot of pinto beans that I cooked for three days and they were still as hard as rocks. The first time I made sugar cookies and someone had dumped self rising flour in the regular flower bin, so they spread all over the cookie sheet in a thin brown shell.

Ron's Bread Machine White
The loaf was absolutely beautiful. I made it exactly as described. It had a nice texture as well, but the flavor was very bland. It also did not seem to stay fresh very long as compared with the recipe that came with my breadmaker.

Ninety Minute Cinnamon Rolls
This is a the best and easiest cinnamon roll recipe I've tried as of yet. These were what I was looking for, the big, fluffy, yeasty cinnamon rolls I remembered from childhood. Compared to many sweet roll recipes this one was a snap. I put an ordinary sugar glaze on them and my husband absolutely raved.

Quick Yeast Rolls
I've made a whole lot more complicated roll recipes that didn't taste as good as these easy rolls do. They do need more flour than the recipe calls for but that is easily remedies. They definitely do better in the muffin tin. I had one clean so I made hald a double batch in and the other half in a regular pan. The ones in the pan don't brown evenly, rather like biscuits, but that could be fixed too by brushing them with water to start with. I have honestly never seen rolls rise this fast and not be poor textured. Great recipe.
