Apple Breakfast Bread
The cloves was overpowering and ruined my loaf. Don't get me wrong, I love spice breads and my favorite cookies are gingerbread men, but because of the impact of the cloves I could hardly appreciate the delicate taste of the apples. I would say 1/8 and maybe up to 1/4 teaspoon. 1/2 was overkill.

Banana Rum Biscotti
Whoa, this batter is super sticky. But flouring my hands helped quite a bit. I halved the recipe (made them into mini biscotti) and omitted the rum and they turned out great. My only complaint is that they got stale very quickly (less than 12 hours) and I wonder if they should have dried out in the oven a bit longer...?

Applesauce Doughnuts
I got a new mini fryer for Christmas and thought this would be fun to try. I followed the recipe exactly, and what came out was nothing like what I know as doughnuts, rather they were fried spice bread holes. And I couldn't taste the apple sauce at all. Spice bread fresh from the oven actually tastes better than this fried version.
