About this Cook
I work in the financial industry with retirement and savings plans, mostly customer service related so I enjoy anything that takes me away from people for a while!!
My favorite things to cook
Ethnic foods and desserts or breads
My favorite family cooking traditions
We were a meat and potatoes family growing up. I still love a good steak and loaded baked potatoe!
My cooking triumphs
There are so many to pick from...every time I bring my lunch to work someone asks for the recipe before lunch is over & at least five people have sampled.
My cooking tragedies
I made my Mom's Hawaiian bars one day (I was still in high school) to surprise her when she came home from work. We'd run out of sugar in the kitchen, but Mom always kept stores of stuff in the basement so I went looking for more sugar. I grabbed a container that looked like suger and dumped in four cups without checking it first. They baked nicely, smelled delicious and I sent some in my Dad's lunch and as a treat for my uncle, a state highway patrolman...unfortunately for my uncle, he received a very salty suprise!! What I thought was sugar, was canning salt. Needless to say, I checked all ingredients before putting them into dishes after that!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
I put them out for my co-works 15 minutes ago and have already had people from other departments coming by because they heard about them! I used the T oj instead of the water and baked about 12 minutes per batch so they would be a little crunchy. I do recommend making the balls a little smaller as the cookies do spread out quite a bit. W/ the smaller balls you get about 3 dozen cookies.

Grandma's Corn Bread Dressing
My sister and I made this for Thanksgiving this year and it is incredible! It's not dry at all and is very flavorful. We skipped the sage because our parents don't like it but even w/out it the flavor is perfect :)

Glazed Apple Cookies
Turned out wonderfully! I wasn't sure about the glaze at first, but it really completes the cookie! Everyone at work loved them :)
