About this Cook
I'm the wife of a US Army combat infantry soldier, and mommy to a sweet little boy, born on July 12th 2008. I'm here on this site to try to find something other than the same old recipes to cook for my husband, who has NO problem with me trying new meals for him! :)
My favorite things to cook
I love recipes that use fresh ingredients. I will always use fresh herbs over dried if I have them, and I can't get enough fruits and veggies. I plan on making my son's baby food when he gets old enough, instead of using jarred food. I happen to love all things dessert, but my husband does not, so to protect myself from eating a whole cake, I've pretty much given up on making anything sweet.
My cooking triumphs
I can make a pretty good lasagna, no one else in my family will attempt to make it for some reason.
My cooking tragedies
I can never make meringue come out right, I don't know if I'm putting it on the pie at the wrong time or what, but every time I make what seems like a perfect meringue, it is watery a few hours later, and I have to scrape it back off....help!

Manicotti Alla Romana
My husband and I really liked this recipe, and he gives it 5 stars, but I give it a 4, simply because I didn't think that the white sauce added anything to the dish. It wasn't that the sauce was bad, it was very good in fact, but I personally feel that the dish would've been just as good without it. That being said, I will probably make it as is again, because my husband really did like the white sauce in it!

Spicy Rapid Roast Chicken
The best roast chicken! Because of previous reviews mentioning smoke with the high heat, I did turn the temp down just a bit. I loved how the chicken is seasoned!

Shepherd's Pie VI
I like this recipe, the only thing I changed was instead of using beef broth and ketchup, I used an envelope of dry brown gravy mix. I wasn't sure if I'd care for it as much with a tomato flavored "broth" in the meat.
