Hello, I am a lucky Stay at Home Mom to our 4 beautiful children. My husband and I have been married for 17 +years. My hobbies include whatever it is that our children happen to be involved in at the moment. Basketball, Dance, Gymnastics, Football, Volleyball to Nick Jr! I also like to cook and I love to Bake!!. I enjoy my hobby of collecting Cookbooks. I haven't counted lately, but it's way over 200. A simple cookbook still makes me a happy girl. I'm always ready to try a new recipe. I'm happy to say that my family enjoys being my testers :) We also enjoy traveling. Many times we have our friends and family pack up and come with us. I love having a crowd. We have done quite a bit of traveling this year. We visited the beautiful mountains in Snowshoe,WV. They have the best ski resorts. We spent a week in Topsail Island, We took the kids to Philadelphia and stayed in the Historic section. We saw the Liberty Bell, sat in the church where G.Washington attended!
My favorite things to cook
..is comfort foods. Southern Food comes easy for me. I love to cook it and my family loves to eat it :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have always enjoyed cooking Holiday dinners and having our family and friends over to enjoy it with us. I have taken this over from my Grandmother. She passed away in 2005. It always meant so much to her that we all got together, especially for holiday meals. I've enjoyed doing this so much for my family and friends. Believe me when I say that our children remember these get togethers. I believe it lays their foundation.
My cooking triumphs
..a couple that come to mind..I knew I was a good cook when my husbands grandfather, who was a man of very few words, asked to have "MY" potato salad for our family picnics .
My Aunt Bonnie, who is "The" family cook, complemented me on my cooking.
My cooking tragedies
The only one I can think of is the year I had my Mom watching the Thankgiving Turkey while we went to my husbands family. When I came home she told me that while checking on the Turkey in the oven, she went to pull the rack out and the Turkey came sliding out on to the floor, stuffing and all! It was ready alright.. Good thing I always make Ham too ;)
