About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking anything with a mediterranean flair, especially using fresh herbs, spices, and seasonal vegetables.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love cooking for my friends and family, whatever the occassion. I host our family's Thanksgiving dinner which usually features an organic herb-rubbed turkey and basil mashed potatoes. For Christmas, I cook a huge pot of Dungeness Crab Cioppino and serve it with crusty Italian bread and a bold red table wine.
My cooking triumphs
I consider it a triumph anytime I don't burn a meal! However, my biggest accomplishment was when I cooked and baked all of the dishes and desserts for a Christmas party for over a hundred people and was asked, "Can I get the name of your caterer? I'm planning a party..."
My cooking tragedies
Anytime I try to grill a steak. I leave that to my husband.

Antipasto
When I was in college, my best-friend's mother provide us with jars of antipasto for our fall camping trips along the California coast-this must be her secret recipe! Other than it being a little too oily, this was great! My family enjoyed it with San Francisco sourdough french bread and a bottle of Sangiovese.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn
This is a wonderful recipe! I substituted butter for the margarine and my first batch disappeared almost as quickly as it came out of the oven! For my subsequent batches, I cut down the popcorn to 6 quarts for more even coating. My company hands-down preferred this special treat over what had formerly been our traditional Christams pies and cakes. Next year, instead of the usual hostess gifts, I'll be giving caramel corn!
