About this Cook
Hi, I'm a mom of three children and since I can remember I have always loved to cook. To give you a little insight what I mean; since the age of around 12 or 13 I've been collecting recipes and trying them out. I later was professionally trained. I no longer work in the restaurant business, but I still love to cook.
My favorite things to cook
I've always loved baking and just about anything else. I especially love cooking around the holidays. There's nothing like baking cookies in the kitchen while watching a good-ole fashioned Christmas movie such as "It's a Wonderful Life". Nothing beats the homey feeling ya get.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Holidays.....and making different types of popcorn for family movie nights.
My cooking triumphs
Hmmmm....When I cooked my first full Holiday Thanksgiving turkey at the age of 15. It wasn't the best turkey I've ever made, but considering my age and lack of experience, that's my proudest cooking moment.
My cooking tragedies
Mistakenly adding white corn flour to my favorite pound cake. I was young when I made this and found to my dismay when I removed cake pan from cake the whole thing crumbled over like a big blob.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie
It's simply DELICIOSO!!!! It's amazingly popular everytime I bring it anywhere, not to mention it doesn't last for a second in my house. It gets devoured.

Brown Sugar and Port Cranberry Sauce
I wish I could have given this sauce 5 stars but felt that it came under that. I think that the sauce had too much port wine taste therefore adding to it's acidity and contributed to a lack of smooth taste. I've made cranberry sauce in the past which contained port wine that was marvelous, but unfortunately I can't find the recipe. I'll keep looking though.

Mexican Bean Salad
This was very tasty!! I have been looking for a bean salad/salsa type of dish for a while that is like one they sell at a local grocer. Even though this recipe wasn't as good than the one at the grocer, it was definately a keeper. I did add Franks hot sauce to add some zip, but found that it added more acid than it needed. It does have alot of acid in-of-itself, so next time I will tweek a bit.
