About this Cook
My name is Crystal & I am a homeschool mom of 3 & married to a wonderful man. I also run MrsHappyHomemaker.com & am the cooking expert for Life Around Home along with being a field editor for Taste of Home magazine.
My favorite things to cook
Comfort food! You know - all the food thats bad for you!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas dinner, and all the treats that go with it!
My cooking triumphs
My recipe for fried chicken - its a hit every time! Also, when I finally got the knack of making and assembling tamales - that was another major one!
My cooking tragedies
Trying some Peanut Butter Thai Chicken from this site. It was wretched, and I still have nightmares! I should have known better to have cooked it! Peanut butter goes on sandwiches and chocolate, not on chicken! Chicken is for frying in a cast iron!!

Pizza Pasta
The reason I gave it 3 stars is because it tasted nothing like pizza... all we tasted was spaghetti. The beef overpowered the pepperoni & you only knew you were eating a piece of pepperoni if you saw it on your fork before putting it in your mouth. I think I will attempt this dish again, I will only use 1/2 pound of ground beef & double the pepperoni to 8oz & see if it makes it more like I would expect a 'pizza pasta' to taste.

Tater Tot Taco Salad
For what it was, this was pretty good. It was simple to make - great for a night where you gotta get dinner on the table, but don't have much time (or energy). I did add onions in with the beef when it was cooking, and did not add the olives to the top. I, instead, used diced green onions.

Cheese and Bacon Potato Rounds
These were pretty awesome! Very simple to prepare! I will make these again, not just as a side dish, but as a snack as well!
