Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2009
This is an awesome recipe. I did follow "what a dish's" recommendation-put back together halves as a loaf, wrapped in foil, baked at 350 for 20 minutes, then open up, put cheese on, and bake until cheese bubbly. One other idea-try provel cheese slices on top vs. mozarella. This is provel, not provolone. Provel is awesome on garlic bread.

Cranberry Sauce with Apricots, Raisins, and Orange

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
So colorful and also so very good. This one got raves from all at Thanksgiving, except those that didn't try because they don't like cranberries. I followed the recipe exactly as written...absolutely no modifications needed.

Smoked Salmon Mousse

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Oh my, this is such a pretty dish, and yummy as well. Your guests will think you are a rock star. Absolutely a great recommendation comes from reviewer "a cook in tampa." Get the phillo cups from the freezer section of your grocery store. Mine didn't even require cooking. Use a disposable pastry bag and squirt into the phillo cup. Makes a beautiful swirl. Tres elegante. Top with some dried dill. I don't have a food processor, and it didn't work in my 25 year old blender, so just used a hand mixer. Also skipped the roe, actually don't even know what it is:>. Very light and good appetizer.

Baked Garlic Parmesan Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
Great recipe. I had large bone-in chicken breasts and it took 50 minutes at 400 degree. Made just a few minor adjustments-used panko breadcrumbs, sprinkled leftover oil and crumbs on top, and then put a few half squares, small, of butter on top, to brown. Yumm.

Italian Breaded Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2009
Very good. Would have given 5 stars but my meat was not real tender. Flavor outstanding. Double dipped in the egg and bread crumbs as suggested by some others. I used a iron skillet to fry the chops in and would not recommend...wanted to pull the coating off. After fried, removed from skillet and put on broiler pan to bake in over. My husband said they tasted just like the chops his mom made when he was growing up.

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
Apologies but this was average at best. The pork was not tender and the flavor was bland. It did smell good, but will not be making again.

Baked Penne with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2009
Very good but not quite 5 star. Added some seasonings (italian seasoning, salt, oregano) and minced garlic. Still could have used a little bit more...but I like lots of flavor.

Pizza Dough I

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
I made this exactly as written except added some garlic powder and oregano to dough. Mixed it all together with my hands and spread it out, put the sauce and other ingredients on top, and baked. Worked perfectly just as written. Very easy to make and with ingredients always have on hand anyway. Gets 5 star for ease in making but only 4 star for taste. Was good tasting just not quite 5 star.

Caramelized Baked Chicken

Really good recipe. Followed advice of reviewer Meredith (sort reviews and by most helpful) and used boneless skinless chicken breasts instead of wings. Yummy sauce! Served with fried potatoes and fresh tomatoes. Perfect companion dishes.

Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 14, 2009
Great recipe. Good old comfort food. Smells wonderful! Very easy to make and love how the coating stays on chicken so nicely. I used 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts with total weight of 1.7 pounds. Needed about double the corn flakes called for. One other hint...be sure to really mix corn flake, onion soup combo...the onion soup wants to go to bottom of bowl and you end up having much more of it on the last pieces of chicken dipped than the first.

Amazing traditional grandmother's recipe! Caution...I love coconut so kept it in. Many in the crowd would not even try due to the coconut. I will consider leaving this out next time.

Hamburgers by Eddie

Really yummmmm! Made just a few adjustments based upon others' suggestions. Double burger as we like our burgers bigger than 1/4 pound. Used ground round, 1 egg for the double batch, some worsteshire and onion powder. They came out so good! And so easy.

Tomato-Cream Sauce for Pasta

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
This was very good, just not quite 5 star. Very simple to prepare. Like others, I cut the onion in half, increased the garlic, reduced the butter quite a bit and used fat free cream. I think next time I will omit the butter, not sure that it is at all needed, and also cut down on the oil. I pureed in blender. Very nice everyday sauce.

Key West Chicken

Followed the suggestions made by "Melissa and Adam" and the chicken came out wonderful. (sort reviews by most helpful). Only other suggestion...marinade the meat in a ziploc bag. This will give you much more bang from your marinade. Thanks!

Pizza On The Grill II

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2009
This one absolutely did not work for us. What a debacle. Read all the reviews, knew what to expect. Still the crust slid through the cracks and we threw half away. What was leftover was good, not great, and not even close to worth the trouble. I love to cook...this one didn't work for us at all. (and actually it didn't end up being inexpensive...could have had a pizza delivered for less)

Wowee! This is an awesome recipe! Followed exactly as written except cut down quite a bit on chili powder as my family can be wimps when it comes to spicy. The meat just fell off the bones.

Ham and Brie Sandwich

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2009
I made this as a late Friday evening supper. I chose it simply due to the fact that it did not have a 1/4 - 1/2 cup of butter as the others did. It is awesome. Yummmm. I made a few modifications based upon what was already in fridge. Used orange marmalade and spicy brown mustard :>. Also sprinkled just a bit of garlic on one slice of bread...what's a recipe without garlic. Came out wonderful. Now my husband gives this 4 star as he felt the orange marmalade was a bit too sweet. But the recipe didn't call for orange marmalade! I tried to find the mango chutney at a local grocery store to no avail. I think next time I will just cut the amount of jam in half as it was really a nice complement to the brie. We also needed to zap in microwave for 30 secs...didn't get hot enough. This made perfect. Make sure your brie gets nice and hot and slightly runny. Makes perfect.

Exchange Gang Pasta with Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2009
This is fantabulous! My husband was still raving about it this morning. My daughter took a small portion and immediately went back and got more. Only made a few modifications: 1. used fat free half and half and worked out great 2. sprinkled just a bit of red pepper on as was suggested by another for a little zing 3. used linguini noodles just because I think spaghetti noodles are boring 4. used cooked shrimp and added later in process as I had them on hand-would not advise doing this as they got a little tough, recommend following the recipe. It was also a very pretty dish! Thanks!
