I had great success with my meal planning this week. I tried a few new recipes and used a few old favroites as well. Sometimes I struggle with coming up with meal ideas so I just thought I would share the recipes I used this week with anyone who might be interested. Thursday - Tortellini… MORE

Hi all! I realized it has been forever since I last blogged, so I figured I better get going! It is now the end of January, and living in Minnesota, I cannot wait for spring! We have had a nasty winter here filled with cold temps and tons of snow. The frigid weather really makes me lazy, and… MORE

I have a week off of work, so I decided to start my spring cleaning today. I figured I'd get the worst room out of the way first, which would be the kitchen. I organized all my cupboards and drawers, which was quite the task. My worst cupboard is the spice cupboard. It is always a disaster.… MORE

As I've said before, I love crockpot meals. They are so easy and convenient. Since I work night shifts, I love being able to come home in the morning, throw a meal together in the crockpot, let it simmer all day long, and then be able to eat when I wake up again. Plus, this allows me to sleep… MORE

Hey all! I feel like I'm in a rut when it comes to making salads. It seems like whenever we get together with family/friends for a meal or the holidays, I'm asked to bring a salad and I'm getting tired of the same old recipes. I have two stand-by recipes that I usually bring. One is a… MORE

Well, this is my first blog. I've never done this before, but thought it sounded kinda fun. Here's a little about myself . . . I'm married and live in Mankato, MN. My husband and I have a weimaraner that we treat like a human most of the time. It's pretty pathetic. I work as a registered nurse.… MORE

About Me
I live in southern Minnesota and work as a registered nurse at our local hospital. I'm married and have a dog. I love cooking, baking, shopping, going fishing with my husband, playing games, watching TV, reading, and going to our family's cabin up north on the lake.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta, breads, appetizers/dips, breakfast, crockpot meals, mexican food, desserts
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom never really cooked much when I was growing up. If she did it was something out of a box or some sort of frozen dinner. My grandma on the other hand always made everything from scratch, and I loved eating at her house. I guess that's why I try to make homemade food as much as possible. It just tastes so much better.
