Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes
I've not had great luck with scalloped pots in the past, but this recipe restored my confidence. I sauted some garlic with the onions, and used yellow flesh pots. I put a layer of ham on bottom and finished off with grated cheddar on top for last 15 min. Nest time I will add some roasted red peppers, fresh parsley, and top with gruyere or asiago for a side dish.

Flatlander Chili
I used 1/2 the called for ground beef and added another pound or so of stewing beef cut into bite sized chunks. It made the chili that much hartier, and I like the texture of cut beef as well as the ground. A great recipe for winter games or movie night with a crowd, cause it's even better done a day ahead and re heated.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
WOW! I read all the reviews and had to try for myself. I used the orange juice as suggested, and regrigerated the dough for a couple hours, and had no problem handling the dough as directed. It's true that even people who turn their nose up at ginger love these. This time I made them smaller (like a teaspoon) and they baked in 9 minutes.
