About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Baking pies is one my specialties! Also yeast rolls and breads. Love any chicken dish and love to experiment. Soups are another fun food to try new combinations. I make a killer fresh salsa with tons of cilantro.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother's Christmas punch which has tea in it...so good and absolutely mandatory every year. Crown pork roast at Christmas.
My cooking triumphs
Chocolate Raspberry Ganache Torte -helped raise over $250 in a bake sale raffle! Perfect potato rolls every Christmas. Perfect flaky pie crust.
My cooking tragedies
Grey, watery beef stew - we got subs that night! Garlic in the sausage gravy (with biscuits), my husband was NOT happy!

Molasses Cookies
Perfect molasses cookies! Chewy with crisp edge, just how I like them! Only substitution was to use 1/2 butter and 1/2 margarine.

Mom's Zucchini Bread
Really excellent recipe. I'm not a big fan of zucchini bread, but since I had some to get rid of, I thought I would make up a couple of loaves. Wow! Only minor substitutions. I used 3 1/2 cups of zucchini (that's what I ended up getting!), 1/4cup applesauce and smidge less oil. Baked for about 55 mins. Perfect. Very moist and flavorful.

Quiche Lorraine II
A very good basic recipe. A few minor tweaks: add a pinch of nutmeg (no more than 1/4 tsp) and substitute at least half of the milk with half&half. Makes for a richer custard and let's face it - with bacon, cheese and eggs, this is not low cal, so add the half&half and enjoy!
