Feta Chicken

Delicious! I only had plain feta so I added basil and garlic to it. I also did not use bread crumbs. It was delicious....even my picky 8-year-old loved it.

Party Punch VI

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
I made this for a bridal shower on Saturday and everyone loved it. I have a standard size punch bowl and it wouldn't hold two containers of juice plus the soda and sherbet, so I just used one and it turned out great. I'll make this again!

These were quite tasty. I added 3 Tbsp brown sugar, but other than that, I followed the recipe. Yummy!

Cafeteria Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
I changed in the following ways: 1 cup of milk instead of 1-1/2, 1/2 tsp of Wrcestershire instead of 1, 2-1/2 cups cheese instead of 3-1/2, 1/3 c bread crumbs instead of 1/2, and 1-1/2 Tbsp butter instead of 2. I also skipped the paprika because I don't like it. Turned out pretty good.

Good recipe. I made lower in fat and calories by using Egg Beaters instead of whole eggs, applesauce instead of oil, 1 c white sugar and 1 c brown sugar in place of so much white sugar, and no walnuts. Turned out great.

Supreme Strawberry Topping

This was terrific. I modified in the folowing ways. Cut up all strawberries. Mix 1/3 of them in saucepan with vanilla and sugar. for about five minutes. Puree that and then mix the rest of the cut up strawberries into it. Delicious on shortcake or ice cream.

Crab Cakes II

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
This was a wonderful recipe, though I did add 1/2 tsp Old Bay, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper and a clove of minced garlic. The only reason it doesn't get five stars is because they fell apart. I used imitation crab meat and chopped it with a food chopper. I did not use all the oil it called for. I just poured some in the pan and fried them like pancakes. They were so tasty my husband asked for more.

Parmesan Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
I thought these were pretty good, though I think half the chicken broth would have been sufficient. I guess it depends on the size of you potatoes. Mine were small so I used a few more. The garlic was a little strong, and I didn't use all that was called for because I ran out. But all in all, they were pretty tasty.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

This recipe was OK--not exceptional but my family did enjoy it. The meat was pretty good. It took a little longer than I thought it would for the biscuits to get done. Other than that, it was a good recipe.

Meatball Spaghetti Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2008
I usually take the time to read the reviews prior to using a recipe from this site, but I didn't this time. Fortunately, they turned out well anyway. I just made the meatballs since I had some jarred sauce on hand and really didn't feel like making it from scratch. I followed the recipe to a tee, except I doubled it because I had two pounds of ground beef that needed to be used up. So now I have extra meatballs for another meal. My whole family loved the meatballs. It's the first time I've ever attempted them and I was pretty pleased at the result. I think I will try baking them next time. I really didn't have a problem with them falling apart, but it seems like a better way to prepare them. I will certainly make these again---the family would be disappointed if I didn't!

Yummy Lasagna

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
Very good! I used more sauce than it called for since other users had said it was a tad dry. I also used no boil lasagna noodles. I used Italian sausage instead of ground beef and about half the pepperoni it called for. It was delicious and everyone raved about it at Christmas Eve dinner. It was served with Garlic Bread Fantastique from this site. Wonderful! I always make lasagna on Christmas Eve. This may be the recipe I use every year from now on!

Tommy's Ham Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
This recipe turned out really good, and was a real winner with my two mac-n-cheese loving kids. Following some suggestions from other reviewers, I doubled the amount of noodles, used cream of chicken soup (it's all I had), added 1/2 cup sour cream, increased the milk to a whole can and increased the cheese to 2 cups. I also added 1/4 tsp of garlic powder. I forgot to add the bread crumbs at the end, which was fine. I think I would add a tsp of salt next time too. It was really creamy and delicious and both kids asked for seconds, which is unusual! What's nice about this recipe is that I almost always have all the ingredients on hand, with the exception of the ham. So throwing it together unplanned would work. Will definitely make again when I have leftover ham.

Ham Bone Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2006
A delicious way to utilize that ham bone! I hate split pea soup, and when I saw this recipe, I had to try it. I have made it a few times, each time a little differently. But I would agree with the others who said to use low-sodium bouillon. Any more salt would be too much. I had quite a bit of ham left on the bone and after slow cooking all day, it just fell off and was so tasty. I added a can of mixed veggies instead of the beans. And I just used one large potato. My kids even liked it, and they aren't big soup eaters. Will make again every time I have a ham bone leftover!

Buttery Cooked Carrots

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2006
This is a pretty good cooked carrot recipe. I agree with the others who said not to leave a little water on the bottom of the pan after draining. I followed that advice and I think it would have been way too soupy if I hadn't. These are perfectly sweet. A tasty twist on plain cooked carrots.
