Sweet Mustard Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2009
This was SO GOOD. I used skinless thighs, used plain mustard instead of Dijon, reduced the butter to a couple of tablespoons, and sprinked fresh seasoned bread crumbs over the chicken after pouring on the honey mustard sauce. This is a keeper!

Key Lime Pie VI

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2006
Awesome! I'd never made meringue pie before, but this turned out great! The directions were very clear, so even a first-timer like me had no problem. I followed the advice of another reviewer and used lime-flavored water in place of the plain water. Everyone loved it; I'll definitely be making it again. EDIT: It's March 13 and I just tried this recipe again. I did the exact same things I did last time, but this time the meringue would not set. I don't know why.

One Two Three Sausage Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2006
I cut the biscuit mix to 2.5 cups, and they turned out perfect. I think 3 cups might be just a bit too much. I absolutely couldn't get any more biscuit mix worked in (I was doing it by hand, though, so maybe with a stand mixer it's possible.) I added a little powdered garlic and paprika just to see how it would be -- SO GOOD! I think next time I'll use sage sausage. Anyway, thanks for the recipe!

Basic Yankee Bread Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
I used this recipe as a guide, but made a lot of substitutions with things I had on hand. I did use the sausage and celery, but I also added a small apple, diced. I only had one small loaf of bread available (oh, and I took another commenter's advice and cut the pieces into cubes while the bread was still frozen -- works great!), so I made cornbread in a large cast-iron pan (which made the cornbread thinner.) Then, I cut up about 3/4 of the cornbread and added it to the mix. For spices, I used parsley, rosemary, sage -- and some chopped-up fresh cilantro I had. I ended up with way more than I could stuff into the turkey, so the rest went into a 9x12 pan, doused with some more chicken broth, and baked for about 30 minutes. Everybody loved both the stuffed and pan varieties. I was really surprised at how good the cilantro was -- and how fragrant. I'll be making this one again at Christmas.

Chicken and Biscuit Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2003
Wonderful! I used homemade chicken broth and had to change the spices a bit because I was out of basil. I used rosemary and a bit of savory, and a dash of celery salt. I also added more carrots since my family loves them. Very yummy and filling. Next time I will use frozen peas instead of canned.

Toasted Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2002
Turned out tasting like burnt popcorn kernels. This is my first attempt at toasting pumpkin seeds and will most likely be my last.

Beef and Noodle Bake

Terrific! Done in a flash and very filling for a cold winter's night. I used ziti instead of macaroni and it worked fine, too. Thanks!

Shepherd's Pie Complete

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2001
A crowd-pleaser! I used regular mashed potatoes instead of flakes and substituted Veg-All for the carrots and green beans since that's what I had on-hand. Picky children, hungry hubby and friend who stopped by for dinner all loved it. Thank you!

Army SOS Creamed Ground Beef

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2001
I also added further seasoning (an extra boullion cube, more soy sauce, garlic powder and onion), served it on toast and my family loved it. My husband (former Navy) informed me what the SOS really stands for and we had a chuckle! A quick, easy recipe using things on-hand...I'm sure it'll be made frequently here!

Chicken and Dumplings II

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2001
WONDERFUL! A friend who stopped by commented that it made the whole house smell delicious, and all three children (plus fussy hubby) devoured it and wanted more! I used chicken breasts instead of a whole chicken since that's what I had, and it turned out beautifully.
