Hash Brown and Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
Yummy! My 2 and 5 year old kids enjoyed eating this dish. We added green peppers instead of onions. I also added 16oz of cottage cheese and used 6 eggs instead of 5. There is definitely more potatoes in this dish than eggs. The dish did not taste dry at all - it was perfect. If you want a more eggy casserole this isn't it or at least you may have to try adding 8 to 10 eggs.

Indian Relish

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2011
Very similar to a Harry and David pepper and onion relish I recently tried. Add 1 cup of this Indian Relish to 8 oz of cream cheese (mix well) and you have an amazing dip to serve with Wheat Thin crackers!! You can add crushed pineapple or pecans for a different flavor. This recipe makes 3 cups which is probably a great amount served by itself, but definitely would half the mixture if you plan to mix with Cream cheese, as this recipe will create 3 batches of Cream Cheese Relish Dip. When I made the relish it did not thicken, so after an hour of simmering on the stove I added 2 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed in 2 tablespoons of water and it thickened right up! This is a must try Relish and will be great for any occasion.

Monkey Bread

I added 2/3 brown sugar and would have just replaced it with the regular sugar but it was an after thought. Next time I plan to substitute the sugar with 3/4 brown sugar. I used kitchen scissors to cut the dough into 4ths, worked really well and was quick. So quick and easy to make! Taste really good too!

Butter Cream Frosting II

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2010
This is the exact same recipe that I have been using all my life. This is my grandmother's recipe and I use it for cakes and cookies! It is yummy! For cookies I may use less milk (couple tablespoons up to a quarter cup) and for cakes I may use more (1/4 to half cup). It all depends on the consistency of frosting that you want to use. I have even added Hershey unsweetened cocoa powder to make chocolate frosting (1/2 cup) and was super chocolaty so I am thinking a 1/3 cup of cocoa powder next time .

Bread Machine Pizza Dough

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
I have used non bread machine and one other bread machine pizza crust and this one is the best I have tried!! It is so simple to make and doesn't require a whole lot of ingredients. I used Bread flour when I made the crust and did everything else the same. It was so good, my husband and I couldn't resist only eating two slices of pizza. We also made another pizza the next day and the day after...That is how good it was! I now make this recipe with 1 can of beer at room temperature. We use our favorite beer and I just flatten the beer myself by pouring from one cup to another. Also if beer isn't warm, will heat up in microwave to save time (Important to have ingredients at room temp). I also use 3 tablespoons butter, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoon salt, 3 3/4 cup flour and 3 1/2 teaspoons of yeast (basically a recipe and a half). After the dough has been made, I will divide the dough and roll into two pizza crust. One for adults and the other for the kids! I love to use barbecue sauce instead of pizza sauce. IT taste amazing, give it try!

Pizza Dough III

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
I made this recipe in the bread maker and will need to add more flour or less water. The dough was too sticky. I just added more flour, kneaded and rolled it out. Worked out great! I normally add butter to the edges of the crust but decided to add it all over the pizza dough. Baked the crust for 7 mins before adding the sauce and other ingredients. Baked pizza for another 20 minutes. Pizza turned out great! Just need to eat with a fork because it breaks too easy.

Simple Turkey Chili

Needs more spices because I thought it wasn't very spicy. I thought it was very tasty though - just needs something more. I plan to add more chili powder and playing around with the spices. I made a double batch so I have leftovers to play with.

Delicious Pineapple Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2010
I used 10 ounces of pineapple and added it right to the mixture. I also did not melt the butter for the topping as people suggested. I also baked the muffins at 375 for 25 minutes. Do not use cupcake liners!!!!! The muffins will stick bad - though if you wait a few days they will gather enough moisture from the air and come out easier. I found it to be much easier to just grease and flour the muffin pan. Definitely go with 12 larger muffins. I made two batches the first time I tried and made two more the next day. Everyone loves them! So easy to make. Don't worry about adding pineapple to the top of the muffins - it is unnecessary work.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
One of my two favorite apple pies to make! The other is the Glazed Apple Cream Pie which can also be found on this site. I prepared the pie using the suggestions of 1 Tablespoon of Vanilla, 1 teaspoon of Cinnamon, and 2 shakes of nutmeg. I used 8 small apples as suggested, thought about using only 6, but glad I used 8. I cut my apple slices thin in order to get my apples to bake nicely. I brought this in for a Potluck fundraiser and everyone was raving about my pie and it was the first desert completely eaten.

I have never liked sweet potatoes until now! I originally made this dish for my husband and now I make it for the both of us every year for the holidays. This is the only way I will eat sweet potatoes. The praline topping makes this dish special as well as the heavy whipping cream.

Irresistible Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: May 15, 2006
Easy to make. Taste so good that you didn't even need to put butter on it. It also wasn't dry - something Soda Bread can be known for. The key is wrapping it in the Foil and allowing it to absorb moisture overnight. I am totally hooked on this bread.

Eggplant -- Easy, Good and Tasty

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2005
My husband I both agreed that it would have been bland if we didn't add Zesty Italian Dressing, which gives this dish its flavor. I cooked 8 minutes and flipped the breaded eggplant and then added all the toppings before finishing with another 8 minutes followed by a 4-minute broil. I used two eggs and the whole eggplant and I still felt it wasn’t enough to cover the eggplant thoroughly. Leftovers were great in the microwave, took 2-3 minutes covered and I thought it tasted better because the eggplant was more cooked (not tough). Peeled or unpeeled, didn’t make a difference.

Glazed Apple Cream Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2001
I have made this pie since 2002. It is one of my favorite pies to make. I definitely use more apples, I usually use about 3-4 large Granny Smith Apples or at least 6 small Granny Smith Apples. The key to this pie is making the filling correctly. So what I do is, I prepare my apples first, then I make the filling so I am not distracted with getting everything else ready. You really need to stir the cream well when adding the cornstarch, otherwise you can get lumps. I also add the cornstarch slowly to help avoid the lumps. It is also good to make sure you get the glaze on the pie before it cools down too much. This gives the pie an overall better look as the glaze will soak into the pie crust. I also entered this pie into a desert bakeoff at work and won first prize! Everyone who has ate this pie loves it! Also another important thing to remember is to not eat your pie until it has been refrigerated for over night. This pie is meant to be eaten cold and not at roomtemp!
