About this Cook
Although it is not my bestest picture, I can't find a better one anywheres. I live in East Moline, Illinois and cook for my whole family anytime there is a special occasion and for the church unless Juanita is there then she has to be the one to do all the cooking.
My favorite things to cook
We like deer a lot and cook squirrel, possum and regular stuff like chicken and hamburger too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Deer meat, slow roasted potatoes with onions and celery, salty pickles cured in brine and some beer.
My cooking triumphs
Cooking for the whole church about 20 years ago, over 400 people came down to eat and I did have some good help to get it all done in time.
My cooking tragedies
Forgetting that my oven blows out if the wind is too strong and I thought it was lit and cooking my roast and 2 hours later I cam back in the house to find no smell in the kitchen and the roast was room temperture.

Sweet Potato Pie I
Sweet potatoes are 'sweet' by nature and do not need 1 cup of white sugar. I used 1/3 cup Brown Sugar, and it was such a fine improvement that I have decided to feature this improved version in my newest church cookbook.

Buckshot Duck with Wild and Brown Rice Stuffing
We could not find the sazon seasoning packets in our little grocery store so Juanita and I used Lowry's seasoning salt instead. I did not have to use buckshot to get my duck since I had a lot of ducks already in the pen thinking they were going to get some sour mash. I chose the fat duck which would have been greasy but I poked it full of holes first and set it upon celery stalks which kept it out of it's own grease. Very good duck and we all liked it.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I
I made these two weeks ago and just now getting back up off the recliner to write about them. I was going to take them to my neighbors pancake supper, but found them to be so good that I ate them all in one sitting. I really would recommend these cookies for sure. Evelyn
