Playgroup Granola Bars
I made this recipe but used others advise of using apple sauce (1/2 cup), reducing the brown sugar (1/2 cup), use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose and I added some ground flax seed (1/3 cup) instead of the wheat germ. I also baked them for a shorter period of time as others recommended (18 min). They did come out chewy (not crispy) and my family really liked them. This is a perfect basic recipe that SHOULD be modified according to your taste. For me, I'll be adding peanut butter and nuts and I'll bake them a little longer so they're just in between chewy and crunchy. 5 stars for providing a great base to start from.
