This is great. I tried it as is. I tried it using Splenda instead of sugar. I tried it using limes for limeade. All were good. I used a small whisk to mash up the fruit. I thought it was a good idea to wash the fruit before slicing it, since the peel remains in the mixture.

This is a great recipe and very flexible. I used a chicken carcass instead of turkey, and used brown rice instead of making slickers and it was still outstanding. I found it helpful to know that 5 quarts is 20 cups. My crockpot only holds about 3 quarts of water with all of the other ingredients, which was more than enough water. Outstanding recipe!

I'm glad I wasn't deterred by a few of the negative reviews, these were good. My only advice would be to mix the ingredients thoroughly and do not forget to refrigerate for at least two hours to perhaps avoid some of the negative results that are reported. I added semi sweet chocolate chips - very good.
