I am 37 years old, married and mother to a wonderful preschooler and infant. They certainly do keep me busy. I work full time as a registered nurse and relish every second of free time that I have. Depending on the day I might just nuke something or make grilled cheese (or heck, make my husband get his own cold cereal and milk) or I might make something very exotic that it's taken me weeks to get the various ingredients. My husand and coworkers never know what to expect, and my husband has learned to never ask "Honey, what exactly is in this?"
My favorite things to cook
I love to make snacks and sweets. Not cakes and cookies, but different things, such as the Irish Potato Candy or a Mardi Gras King Cake.
My cooking triumphs
I made an amazing King Cake for Mardi Gras last year. And a fantastic doughnut bread pudding. And a killer cranberry sauce. Quite proud of all of them. And my husband swears I make the best gumbo that he has ever eaten.
My cooking tragedies
My secret ingredient in my chili is a handful of chocolate chips, so one evening while I was making meatloaf I decided to add chocolate chips to the meatloaf, well, needless to say it was awful! And then there was the time that I added dried cherries and vanilla to ground meat for hamburgers. Like I said, my husband has learned to not ask any more what the ingredients are to any dish.
